RE: [ranchos] Digest Number 228

Thanks Charles for your reply.  I am aware of the various spellings and have looked into many variations already.  In fact my own last name has gone through changes during the last three generation, ie. Jaurigui, Jaurique, Jaurequi.
I do know of the Jose Luis Vazquez y Rodriguez de Frias' book but I haven't really looked into it.

Thanks again for your reply.

Olivia

Dear Olivia:

I think you will find many more of your ancestors but with a different
spelling of Jaurequi if you try Xauregui. This is the case with my
grandparents, Pedro Rodriguez and Maria Ulloa de Rodriguez who have many
Xauregui ancestors. My grandfather was born in La Estancia and he and my
grandmother shared at least 16 common ancestors and most likely many more,
as I have been stuck in going back beyond 1700 in both the Rodriguez and
Ulloa lines. Some of my grandmother's other ancestors have been traced into
the 1600s and beyond.

Have you looked at Jose Luis Vazquez y Rodriguez de Frias' book?

Sincerely,

Charles Clark

Hello Joseph and Group.

Sorry it's taken so long to get this information out, but since joining the
group last June, I haven't really had much time to devote to my genealogy.
Zacatecas is the area of search for my father's side of the family. Although
I started my researching in 1974, it has only been over the last six years
that I've concentrated my father's side.

My grandparents-Juan Huerta Jaurique & Candelaria Magallanes Marques were
married in Mesilla, New Mexico on 24FEB1916.  They had three daughters and
two sons.

Grandpa Juan was born in Estancia, Zacatecas on 24JUN1880; his parents were
Victor Jauregui and Petra Huerta.  He died in Las Cruces, New Mexico
13MAY1960.  We know that he had another family in Mexico before marrying my
grandmother but no one seems to have any details about them.  According to
census documents he came to the USA in 1909.  I've been told he first went
to Arizona, then spent some time in the Detroit area before going to New
Mexico.

Victor Jauregui and Petra Huerta were married in Nochistlan, Zacatecas on
15JUN1875 according to LDS records.  Except for their marriage record I have
not found any other documentation on them relating to parents or children.
I still need to order the film with their marriage information and perhaps
it will provide me with more details.  My father's family was told that
Victor was born in Spain (Pais Vasco) and my father recalls that my grandpa
Juan had talked about wanting to visit his father's family in "Oroz-Betelú".

My grandmother Candelaria was born in Sain Alto, Zacatecas on 2FEB1901.  She
died 2AUG1928 in Las Cruces, New Mexico  Her parents were Juan Marques and
Maria Juana Magallanes.

Juan Marques was born abt 1872 in Sain Alto, Zac. to Silvestre Marques and
Maria Salome Lira

Maria Juana Magallnes was born 26JUN1882 in Zacatecas to Geronimo Magallanes
and (first name is illegible) Rodrigues.  The rancho where Maria was born is
somewhat illegible in the Sain Alto civil register, but appears to be
something like "Rancho Hamillo".  Maria died in Las Cruces, New Mexico
20FEB1970.

Geronimo was born abt 1846 to Leandro Magallanes and Leandra Avila

(?)Rodrigues was born abt 1846 to Maximo Rodrigues & Francesca Zamora
