DE LA ROSA from Panuco, Zacatecas, Mexico

Help please. I have several questions regarding the de la Rosa family from Panuco, Zacatecas, Mexico. I will start with the shorter ones so that they don’t get lost in this lengthy request.

First let me start by saying thank you for this website. I have learned to do searches and read information before asking questions as some of the time those questions have already been asked and answered. I have found a lot of information. Thank you!

1. I contacted Borderlands bookstore looking for GENEALOGIA DE NOTCHISTLAN ANTIGUO REINO DE LA NUEVA GALICIA EN EL SIGLO XVII SEGUN SUS ARCHIVOS PARROQUIALES by José Luis Vázquez y Rodríguez de Frías. It is out of print. Could someone who has a copy please tell me if there is a de la Rosa family line in that book and share. Thank you.

2. There are huge gaps in records in the Panuco, Zacatecas, Mexico microfilm that I am unable to put together the de la Rosa line. I would be interested in an overview as to where they may have originated and suggestions as to where to search. When researching the Aguascalientes ancestry for other lines, there were many lines that go back to the 1648 Padron (Census) which was an immense help. Plus all the other information available from the microfilm at family search, info from this website, an article by John P. Schmal on the founders of Aguascalientes, etc. Perhaps I am overlooking something for the Panuco area that would help work through these gaps. Your recommendations would be appreciated.

3. And the longest question which I probably should have asked first. Below I have listed my de la Rosa direct line from Panuco, Zacatecas, Mexico. I am looking for the parents of SEFERINO DE LA ROSA & VITORIA SALDIVAR. Since there are such huge gaps I have gone back and reconstructed records in Panuco for any de la Rosa from 1850 to the 1600’s, although I think they may go back to Jalisco?? I am hoping that by searching marriage records that are available I might find a note regarding any de la Rosa who required a dispensation and get back to their diocese records where hopefully there might be information on the extended family. So far I haven’t found any. But it occurs to me that others may have tried doing the same thing and may have already found connecting information????

Thank you for your help. I have data and some other lines of de la Rosa family reconstructed if anyone should be looking for family from that area. Please send a message.

Family Tree DNA

I have used Family Tree DNA. I have used the Y-DNA 67 marker, and the mtDNA,
and have been pleased with the results. However, the Family Finder test has
been a disappointment. The default for all people with Native American DNA
is "Maya." I spoke with Bennett Greenspan the CEO and was told they do not
have ample Native American samples to be more accurate. It is a false
premise to give people the impression that everyone of Mexican descent is
genetically linked to the Maya people.

Secondly, Some of Mexican American descent are being classified as "Russian"
as a default in their Family Finder DNA. Mr. Greenspan thinks that this in
fact might be linked to some ancient people who migrated to the Basque
country from Finland, and not Russian as currently classified. There is no
historical evidence of a Russian presence in Mexico to justify use such
strong showing of Russian DNA in Mexico. Russian Jews who emigrated to
Mexico do not provide an answer.

I simply offer this as a caveat for those planning to invest money in DNA
testing.

Hello all:

I know that others have asked in the past, so I apologize. But I just want
to make sure if Family Tree DNA is the way to go. Specifically, were people
happy just doing the y-DNA test, which appears to be the cheapest test.
Also, which y-DNA test is really necessary: y-DNA 12, 25 or 37?

My father is interested in doing the y-DNA test. As for our lineage, while
I've had great success in searching various family lines from Tlaltenango
(ex. Gonzalez, Arteaga, etc), I've had no luck with our surname: Pineda/
Pinedo.

I've only been able to back to go back to my grandfather's father, Nicanor
Pinedo, who married twice in Tlaltenango. Based on his marriage records, his
parents were Pedro Pinedo and Pioquinta Cardoza. But I've not been able to
find any birth records for Nicanor Pinedo or marriage record for Pedro
Pinedo and Pioquinta Cardoza, so I'm stuck.

So maybe we'll learn something from the y-DNA test.

I don't know if they are the best, but I think they are pretty good.
As for the tests, Y-12 gives you too many 12/12 matches from people not
really closely related to you. The more markers the better, I would go with
the Y-37 or Y-67 one. They currently have these tests on sale, but I think
the offer ends by the end of the year.

Tomasa Ruis de Esparsa

Hello, Hope all are enjoying plenty of tamales and cheer!

I am still trying to locate the parents of Tomasa Ruis de Esparsa, widow of Bartolome Garcia de Leon (Hijo) and wife of Jorge de Ayala. The one possiblity is found in the "Genealogical Look at the 1648 Padron of Aguascalientes" ; page 23, under: La Cassa de Lope Ruis de Esparsa.

There is reference to: "Tomasa Ruis, su hija de dos anos"
I believe this Tomasa would be daughter to Cristobal Ruis de Esparsa and his wife Isabel Peres de Ortega AKA Alcaraz. This would mean a birthdate of @ 1646; making her age 20 when she married Bartholome Garcia in 1666, and but @ age 42 when she married Jorge Ayala in 1688. However, it appears Tomasa was with Jorge Ayala long before the marriage because, even though I haven't found birth records for the children, Angela was married in 1689; Beatris in 1695; and Andres in 1701.

I admit, I have searched the birth records page by page and am unable to locate any record of her birth--only this one line in the Padron. Does anyone have any ideas or opinions or advice?

Thank you, and Merry Christmas,
Deedra Corona

I would like to see restoration of Haciendas in San Antonio, Huejuquilla, Valparaiso, Zacatecas area

There are quiet a few old Haciendas such as San Antonio De Padua of Zacatecas. Anyone do any research on that Hacienda? The silos which were the graneries are amazing. That would be a nice Hacienda to see restored.

In the Valparaiso area there are some Haciendas such as "Hacienda San Mateo"

Would be nice to see them restored to see how they lived back in the Colonial days.

research and records

I've just updated my file on Rootsweb.com. I've been working on making corrections after I merged files incorrectly and it combined families that were not connected. I've been making corrections for 2 years now 1 surname at a time. My records are for Zacatecas, Jalisco and Michoacan. My file name is Mexico and my Father Aniceto (Chet) Castanon is my starting point for reference and Jerez, Zacatecas is our ancestral home for my paternal lines and Tamazula, Jalisco for my maternal lines.

I also want to thank members of Nuestrosranchos for sharing and opening their files to us all so we have been able to make connections and reclaim our history. The ancestors have smiled and had fun with us in our search for them. I hope I've pleased them and made them proud.

Familia "Ceja" en Michoacan...

Hola,

Cualquier aportacion sera agradecida,
Roberto Hdez.

Godoy's de Tlaltenango

Joseph,

1) Is Jose Antonio Godoy, married to Ma. Candelaria de Orozco, brother of Jose Maria Godoy, married to Juana Eledesma Velasco? I estimated there are approximateley 40 yrs between them. This is why I'm not sure they are brothers.

2) For the following, I'm going to assume each male became a father at the late age of 40 years old.

Jose Antonio Godoy got married to Ma. Candelaria de Orozco in 1766

Assume his son Jose Francisco Godoy was born in 1786, got married at 40 years old, making him a father in 1826.

Jose Francisco Godoy, born 1826, has a son when he 40 yrs old making Jose Romualdo born in 1866.

Romualdo, born 1866, has a daughter, your mother, when he 40 yrs old making your mother born in 1906.

Your mother, born 1906, has a son, Joseph Puentes, when she is 30 yrs old, making Joseph born in 1936.

Does this timeline make since?

Information Orozquitas Attacked Huejuquilla El Alto on December 1912

Here is some information regarding the attack of 1600 men of the Orozquitas that attacked our village of Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico in December 1912.

Deciembre 1912.

Source:

http://www.guadalajaraguadalajara.com/efemerides.php?_pagi_pg=7

Regading this event, when I was at the library in Huejuquilla, I pulled out some old "Mi Pueblo" newspapers and read the article on the account of the attack.

One of the people that defended our village was of the local ranchers of the Alvarez surname from Rancho De Los Adobes who had some military experience. It was also rumored that another persona of our village who died defending our village against the Orozquitas was by the name of "Jesus Madera." He was the son of my great grandfather Calixto Madera.

Hello, everyone. I'd just like to introduce myself as a new member of this research group. I very recently started researching my family history, but I have been interested in it for years. I have a bit of information from what my grandparents can tell me and also one great-grandmother (103-105 years old), but most dates are missing as of yet. Anyway, I just thought I'd share what I have in the hopes that someone might see a connection to my family, however remote it might be, and we can maybe exchange it.

Thanks and wish me luck!

Online records are a blessing. They have enabled us to find answers immediately. I've often seen the words "espanol africano" in baptism and matrimonial records, but today I find them in 1822 within a family I am researching, so it becomes more relevant. Don't know if it means Spanish with typical dark skin and features (I know white Southafricans) or vice versa. I think if unrelated to appearance, there would be no point in writing it down. Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Me parece
que eso lo tienes equivocado. Espero tu respuesta.
