Banuelos Quesada in Huejucar Jalisco

Are the Banauelos related tothe Trevinos way back in the 1500s? Some children of Diego Tevino and
Francisca Alcocer took Trevino and others Banuelos? I think Francisca Alcocer died in Guadalajara in mid 1500s. SOme of her sons moved to Zacatecas city. Diego Trevino, the son for one. Children of
DIego Trevino the son, Jose Trevino and his wife Lenor Ayala for one moved on to Monterrey around 1600. I am looking for veriffication of parentage of Diego Trevino, Sr and his wife Francisca Alcocer.
John Inclan claims Diego Trevino decends from the Bernardino Fernandez Velasco, 3rd count Haro.
Francisca Alcocer is said to descend from Henery II and Eleanor of Acquitiane through daughter Eleanor.

It's a myth that Diego Trevino is descended from Bernardino Fernandez
Velasco. I once thought that he was, too! But when I went searching
for verification, it appears that he isn't. I'm a descendant of Diego
and Francisca so I was interested. Where did you get your info about
Francisca Alcocer being descended from Henry II and Eleanor of
Aquitaine? I'd love to know. Marge :)

Again my source is John Inclan. I am inclined to believe that is a myth also. All I know that has been
verified from records in Jalisco is that Francisca Alcocer died there and that the Banuelos families and the Trevinos are part of the same family.

Marge, could you share your information that convinced you that the connection to Bernardino Fernandez Velasco is a myth? Inclan mentioned a lot of books which I have been tr ying to get on interlibrary loan. THese books deal with early colonists in Mexico.I still think there are worthwhile looking at. He mentioned books at various sites where he has been posting the Trevino lineage.

Also many people list Lenor Ayala as the mother of Ana Trevino the daughter of Jose Trevino.
According to a recent paper by the archivist of General Escobedo that came out earlier in the year, Ana Trevino was illegitimate. She was born in Zacatecas. There is no mention of who her mother really is.
The article is posted on the General Escobedo site. This means I have to continue my search as I am also descended from the Saens.

my family tree traces DIEGO de TREVINO, back 7. yes, 7 generations 2 generations before 1384.All the generations have a surname of VELASC0.

John Inclan references Guillermo Garmendia Leal's book on Nueva Galicia p.142. Guillermo in his book references two books, one in the Bancroft library, "A Guide to the Manuscripts of the Collections of Bancroft, Vol II Mexican Manuscripts Clave M-M1714" p 151. Then Guillermo also lists a film from the Family History Center in Salt Lake #0266637. Then there is another book "Biografias de Conquistadoews de Mexico de Guatamala" by Francisco Fernandez de Catsillo p. 59.

I still hae not seen any proofs either way regarding Trevino's lineage only opinions. It is worth to try and check out the resources mentioned above.

I believe I have emailed John on this subject before and never received a response. John has printed
his genealogies in many spots. He has referenced some the genealogies in some places. If John is not willing to respond then one can only check his references. I believe John gets a lot of email.

I checked the film referenced in Leal's book and something seemed amis as it was a film on deceased indio in the 1700s and did not seem relevant to this subject.

Leal's book, sold by Borderlands Books does list Banuelos in the late 1500s 1600s.

I happen to have the book you cite below and thought you might be interested
on what's written on page 142 of the Garmendia Leal book cited below.

The title of the chapter is: Descendientes de Diego Temiño. The first
generation listed is Diego Temiño de Velasco (R: 1474), born at España. He
married Fracisca de Alcozer (R: 1475) at España. Francisca, born at
España. Then, it goes on to list five children of this couple: Francisca,
Alonso, Baltazar, Diego and Mariana. VECINDAD: Fueron vecinos de Sevilla,
salen con sus hijos de España el 13 Junio de 1538 hacia Cartagena, pasan por
Mexico y llegan a Guadalajara, Jal. aprox. en 1543/44. Below that, is the
citation to the Bancroft Library manuscript Esther cites.

esther, you are correct in that the book does not list the parents of DIEGO de TREVINO, or FRANCISCA
ALCOZER, but I have them in my ancestry that was printed by a member of SAGA, actually he is coordinator or something of the group.I will send what I have, several generations back from Diego, and only 1 from
FRANCISCA. I have the info at home and I am the library where I volunteer.

This is the genealogy that is in question. Was this information from John Inclan's web site? What is the original source for the information and what did the original source say? I know this information is not in the Fundadores of Nueva Galicia. Mr Garemendia Leal I believe research the archives in Jalisco.

Rosalinda, can you contact me at longsjourney@yahoo.com I have contacted my Aunt Cecilia Virginia Banuelos and would like to share what she said with you.. at your convenience.. Also at what point in the family history are you related to her? She's curious about you and your knowledge abt her and her siblings. She also said she's been contacted by a De Leon whos lineage goes to Petra Flores, sister of Teodora Flores, wife of unknown De Leon. The information he gave her is different from yours. He has Teodora's mother a Gutierrez so my Aunt Virg is very confused at this point..

Hello,
in my family tree I have DIEGO VELASCO TREVINO descended from BERNARDIN0 FDZ. V. and
his wife , FRANCISCA ALCOZER, from HERNAND BANUELOS and BEATRIZ I. ALCOZER. DIEGO and FRANCISCA are the parents of DIEGO de TREVINO, who married BEATRIZ de QUINTANILLA, in 1557, in
D.F. BeatriZ was born in 1539, in D.F. FRANCISCA ALCOZER was born in SPAIN in 1500. It is thought that all of their children were born in SEVILLA, SPAIN. NOW, I see where the parentage of DIEGO is in question.
