The de Luna family, an Indian family, that lived in Aguascalientes in the early 1700s, is often named with the title Don or Dona. Does anyone know what the stature of the family was, or why they were referred to as Don or Dona?
As an example, Dn Eugenio de Luna, son of Dn Pasqual de Luna and Da Maria de Salas, married Josepha Manuela (also an indian) on February 1, 1731. Both were from the Pueblo of San Bartholome.

de Luna Family of Aguascalientes
George,
In his book, Bautismos, Matrimonios Y Defunciones, En El Primer Siglo De Santa Maria De Los Lagos, Mmario Gomez Mata discusses this subject. See p. 252, footnote #315. It's a long footnote. If you don't have access to the book I'll scan and send a copy to you. It's in Spanish. Would you need a translation?

Printing Method of LDS Film Documents - Need Help
Dear Nuestros Ranchos,
I have been able to actually print a LDS film document using a Screen Print
method, but it seems rather involved.
Screen Print Key hold down for a count of 4 --> Open Microsoft Paint -->Click Paste in Paint drop-down-->Save to disc--name document & change file to jpg --> Save to my picture library ----> then open picture library program, locate document and print...
It actually prints out the one document that I had selected from the 2 pg
image on the LDS film.
I can read it...but as I noted above it's a rather long process.
I would appreciate hearing from list members that have come up with a method of printing with
less steps, and which mirrors what we were able to do before... the click one button print key procedure...
I have installed FireFox Mozilla. I have Window 7 as my operating system program. My ISP is Comcast.
Free download for FireFlox Mozilla: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Thank You,
Sincerely,

Printing Method of LDS Film Documents - Need Help
Patricia,
Family Search told me I couldn't use their print function. They said to save the whole image and then use my computers photo managing system to open, crop and print.
What I do is Save the image, then find the image in my files, then open it, then go to Microsoft Tools and choose Microsoft Office Picture Manager. From the top menu on the screen, choose Picture, then when that menu comes up, choose Crop and you will see "handles" on the corners of the image. Move the handles to encase the portion of the image you want to print. On the right side you will see a box with Crop, Crop Settings, Crop Handles, and Picture Dimensions. Click on Picture Dimensions after checking that the number of pixels is high enough to ensure your image will print out very clearly---the more pixels, the sharper the image will be, then click OK.
Then go to File on the top of the screen and click Print. That will open up the Photo Printing Wizard. I choose the Full Page Prints and continue with the process like I do when printing photos. After you have printed your image, it gives you the option of Exit, and Don't Save. You can click Save if you want to save the image in the cropped version in your files.
Yes, it is a lot of rigamarole, but I get just as good prints as when the Family Search's viewer did the printing with just one button. They took that away, so all you can do is what they said, save the file, then use whatever photo and cropping software came with your computer. Luckily, I found the Microsoft Office Picture Manager in my computer. It also had Paint, but that was a complete nightmare. Others have suggested downloading a photo printing program called Picassa that they are very happy with.
Good luck,
Emilie

Thank you Emilie,
I'll try what you are doing. I have Office Picture Manager... WOW! wonder why LDS changed something that was so simple to something that requires many steps...
But I'm thankful these images are available...
Many thanks!

de Luna Family of Aguascalientes
George,
Among the indians who allied with Cortes in the conquest of Tenochtitlan, there is Don Sebastián Hernández del Aguila, tlaxcaltecan chief (cacique) who retained his nobility title after the conquest. One of his descendants, Don Diego Hernández de Aguila, founded the town of Nuestra Señora de Moya in the vicinity of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, on February 19 1709,. Another interesting family was that headed by Don Matías Saucedo y Moctezuma, Captain of the Chichimecan Frontiers, who after some confrontations with Don José Rincón Gallardo, was granted some land by this landowner in the area of El Mezquital or Xonacatique and the town of "Jesús María de los Dolores", known today as "Jesús María" was founded. The 'Archivo Historico de Aguascalientes' includes documents of the Saucedo y Moctezuma family, where they are always identified as indians and referred to as 'Don'. I am not sure what is the relationship of Don Matías to Emperor Moctezuma, or to the other 'Moctezuma' (e.g., Petronila) in the area of Lagos-Aguascalientes.
I do not have details about the members of the Luna family, but I would not be surprised that they share a similar story.
Sincerely
Jaime Alvarado
