I am new to Nuestros Ranchos and not sure how to begin. I am looking for information in the city of Encarnacion de Diaz for my deceased father's father (Paz Romero). He was born about 1880. Thank you.
You ask...what does it mean when it states 'this marriage required a consanguinity despensation'? (tercero con cuatro grado).
In the Roman Catholic Church a consanguinity dispensation is required in order to marry a "blood" relative within the fourth degree, which means that the engaged couple has a common great-great grandparent(s). A 'tercero con cuatro grado' means that the common ancestor(s) for the couple is a great-grandparent(s) for one and a great-great grandparent(s) for the other. This bit of information will be helpful as you build your family tree.
As you go farther back in time (prior to approx. 1812), you may want to visit Claudia Casilla's terrific website at http://www.guadalajaradispensas.com/p/index-years-1800-1899.html, which has listings of extracted names from the Guadalajara Diocese records.
Hello everybody! My name is Hector Guerra. My family is originally from
Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco, better known as "La Chona"!! I spent a lot
of time as a child in that town and its surrounding ranchos. My curiosity
for the history of the area as well my ancestors started at a young age. I
remember a time when I made it a goal to visit as many churches as possible
in that area because the architecture fascinated me. That was when I was
9! My father being a good father took me to all those places. Having the
desire to investigate and learn drove me to ask my older relatives where I
came from. Who where my great grandfathers and Great Grandmothers? I
started my tree early on by asking first hand. I went back to the 1800's
and that was amazing!
Now as an adult I find myself wondering if I can go farther back. I
realize that a lot is out there for me to find, and that the tools are out
there. I also realize that with a group like this I can help others with
their journey. My father was a great man and he taught and shared a lot
with me, however he lost a battle with cancer. I want to research my past
along with anybody that can help to know more about my families roots. I
already feel more in tuned with my ancestors stories with the little I have
been able to grasp in the short time I have been looking. So if you can
help, I would love the support and encouragement. And if I can help any of
you, please do not hesitate to call on me.
My father was born in "Las Pilas" his last name was Guerra and De Santos.
The farthest I have been able to go back in "Guerra" is (Nicolas Guerra)
and i believe he was the son of Ygnacio Guerra. He also married Bernarda
Gallo. This is my emphasis right now. The farthest I have in De Santos is
"Margarito De Santos" from Las Pilas and he married Ma.Filomena
Macias(Macias from San Felipe, GTO)
My Mother was born in "Bajio de San Jose" her last name is Polina and De
Santos. The Farthest I have in Polina is Saturnino Polina, and he was
married to Gabriela Lara. Son Of Juan Polina and Bacilia Velazquez or
Velazco. In the De Santos I have Severo De Santos, who was married to Ma.
Cleta Estrada. The Polina is mainly from Bajio, Rangel, and La Chona. De
Santos is "Las Pilas"
I often make trips to the area, so I am also willing to ask questions for
any of you or reasearch there in el Panteon. My Family still is
contstantly vacationing there, in fact we live in "Bario Alto"
If anybody can help me with the Guerra line, like I mentioned I would
greatly appreciate it. This past summer my family walked through the
Hacienda in el Meson, and I wondered how I was connected to that Guerra!
Welcome Hector! You could do no better than to join this group. I've had so
much help from everyone at Nuestros Ranchos. I made my daughter a promise I
would work on our family tree, with the help of NR staff, and Family Search,
I have found my grandfather and back 5 more to 1712. Stick with Nuestros
Ranchos they will lead you in the right direction and it will be like going on a
tresure hunt. Good Luck!

Yes, I normally would not recommend My Heritage, but I must say they have the
most user-friendly tree. I did try others and did not find them easy to
navigate. But then I'm new at this and do not have much experience. Just pay
for the simple My Heritage membership and do not pay for anything
else/extras--- reason being, they do not produce any needed info. Stay away
from Ancestry and most of the others as they charge way too much for very
little. I know...been there and done it. Family Search, which is run by the
Later Day Saints is free and they are most helpful. Nuestros Ranchos is free
and also very helpful. Hector, if you find a user-friendly website for a
family tree, let me know. Have you visited this Wikitree? Does it look easy to
navigate? I will be honest with you genealogy is not easy, at times very
frustrating---especially when you have to search through 2-300 pages to find a
"pariente" but in the end, it's like finding a treasure. Stick with the good
guys...they will help you.

I've only been a member for a few months, but during that time I have everyone here to be very helpful. It seems you already have the info you were looking for. I'm going to post a link a that I have found extremely helpful when I don't know what parish is in the area. This directory has helped me a lot. I hope you find it helpful.
don't forget to try Rootsweb.com.. it's free and the work of other genealogists like me..
good luck in your search for your roots

father's name: Feliciano Romero
mother's name: Felipa Romo
paternal grandparents: Jose Maria Romero & Refugia Gonzalez
maternal grandparents: Antonio Romo & Julia de Alva
padrinos: Antonio Romo & Ynes Cornejo
The marriage record states that prior to his marriage, Jose Paz lived in Clito [Clifton] Arizona, it also states that this marriage required a consanguinity dispensation (tercero con cuatro grado).
You need to provide more info than that. What was the name of your father's
mother? Where did they marry? About what year? What were the names of your
father's siblings? Who did they marry and when? Those are all clues needed
in your search.

Hi Susan

Encarnacion de Diaz
Thank you in advanced!

Hi Susan and welcome.
I've only been a member for a few months, but during that time I have everyone here to be very helpful. It seems you already have the info you were looking for. I'm going to post a link a that I have found extremely helpful when I don't know what parish is in the area. This directory has helped me a lot. I hope you find it helpful.

Romero in Encarnacion de
Hi Susan and welcome to the group.
I have a Jose de la Paz Romero baptized on Feb. 1, 1881: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18687-85489-76?cc=1874591&wc…
father's name: Feliciano Romero
mother's name: Felipa Romo
paternal grandparents: Jose Maria Romero & Refugia Gonzalez
maternal grandparents: Antonio Romo & Julia de Alva
padrinos: Antonio Romo & Ynes Cornejo
On the margin it states that Jose de la Paz married Regina Zermeno on Aug. 1, 1908 in: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18532-4073-16?cc=1874591&wc=…
The marriage record states that prior to his marriage, Jose Paz lived in Clito [Clifton] Arizona, it also states that this marriage required a consanguinity dispensation (tercero con cuatro grado).

Romero in Encarnacion de Diaz
Hello Ernie,
You need to provide more info than that. What was the name of your father's
mother? Where did they marry? About what year? What were the names of your
father's siblings? Who did they marry and when? Those are all clues needed
in your search.
