Hi everyone.
Looking for help in finding records on:
(1) Antonio Pantaleon &
(2) Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez (Antonio's owner and possible father).
I believe my ancestor that "started" the Gutierrez family is: Antonio Pantaleon, a slave of Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez and son of Maria Antonia (last name is not mentioned), also a slave. Antonio Panteleon's father is listed as "unknown."
(Fascinating)!
In this recorded:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XY1Y-5?i=133&wc=3J45-3TL%3…
Antonio Pantaleon is mentioned as marrying Anna Maria Placenia, daughter of Jossefa Ruiz and her father's name I can't make out on February 26, 1772
I believe Antonio Pantaleon changes his last name to Gutierrez because other records show his children with the Gutierrez surname. In this following recorded, their son Jose Maria Norato Gutierres Placiencia, christened 17 Feb 1787 at SAN MIGUEL EL ALTO,JALISCO,MEXICO reflects that change as follows:

Mario,
the father of Ana Maria Placencia is Cristobal Placencia.
Josepha Ruiz and Cristobal Placencia baptised a boy in 1740 in Jalostitlan and they baptized a girl in 1742 in Jalostitlan

I also looked up this one where Josepha Ruiz and Xptobal(Cristobal) de la Trinidad baptised a girl named Juana Maria de Santiago, mulata libre, in 1755, so sometimes he didn't use Placencia as his last name. The padrinos were Juan de Dios Gutierrez and his daughter Maria Regina Gutierrez, probably relatives of your Gutierrez family.

Danny, thank for making out the name "Cristobal" out of Xptobal. I don't know how long I looked at that document to figure it out with no luck. Now, it looks clear to me after you point it out.
I was also thinking that Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez, slave owner of Antonio Placencia, could be the father--illegitimate of course of Antonio Placencia.
Do you have any suggestions on how I could find information on Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez?
Again, thank you for the helping me find more leads.
Have a nice day!

Mario,
i don't really know how to figure out if Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez is the father of Antonio Pantoleon, although it seems like it makes sense since the mother lists the father as padres no conocidos, but unless you find another record that lists him as the father it's probly going to be hard to figure out.
i also dont know who Antonio Gil Gutierrez is, but he may be connected to this family here:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XYBZ-K
this is a marriage for Don Jose Antonio Gutierrez and Doña Maria Andrea Iñiguez in 1802. Don Antonio Gutierrez parents in this marriage are Don Andres Gutierrez and Doña Margarita Placencia, both would probly been married close to you Antonio Pantoleon, so they might be related to your Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez. I don't know anything about this family really other than they also use the name Gutierrez de Hermosillo.
