I am new to genealogy and one of the lines I am most interested in is my maternal Lomeli line, which is also proving to be the most difficult.

I was reviewing a 12 Feb 2006 posting regarding Santos Luna's question of the whereabouts of Rancho del Muerto. I did not read it then and apologize for this late response. I ran across what I believe is probably the same rancho referred to as simply "el Muerto" in the margin of a Tepechitlan baptismal manuscript dated 11 Aug 1776. That year Josepha Dominga Luna Miramontes was baptized. The parents were Antonio Miramontes and Victoria de Luna.

I am researching Ybarra's of early 1800's in Zacatecas. Patricio Ybarra is my 5th Great Grandfather/Maternal.

Does anyone have any information on the Porras family from Michoacán (la piedad de cabadas)/Guanajuato/Jalisco (Degollado). It has been super difficult tracking this side of my family.

So far my new lost cosuin Stevan and I are researching the Ornelas with detail and trying to find documents proving Alvaro from Lagos de Moreno came from Madeira Islands. I got this from rootsweb. but the link to the actual source appears broken. I will upload the will of Alvaro I later in the week I am busy today!

This book was wonderful. And free at Project Gutenberg. I read the whole
thing and got a much better idea of what life was like in Mexico during
colonial times.
