I found a mistake in my tree and I was hoping that someone could correct it.
Juan Yanez del Monte and Lorenzo Yanez del Monte are half brothers because they have the same father but different mothers. This is very clearly stated that they had different mothers. My problem is that I do not know which of the two is the son of Geronima Benavides. I have both of them listed. which one should not be there?
I know how I originally made the mistake. A dispensa that I originally used called them brothers but did not specify that they had different mothers.
Yanez del Monte
Rick,
Lorenzo Yáñez del Monte, who married María Rodríguez de la Mora, was the son
of Gonzalo Yáñez del Monte and Gerónima de Benavides. I found his final will
and testament with some old "Tierras y Aguas" documents and have a complete
transcription. The names of his wife and children are mentioned in his final
will, but I don't remember if he mentions his parents. That information may
be included in "Genealogías de Nochistlán..." by José Luis Vázquez
Rodríguez.

Thanks Bill, Can I have a copy of the will and testament. I mentioned this because there seems to be conflicting information. I believe Jose Luis Vasquez Rodriguez has Juan as being their son yet it is clear in one document that they are half brothers with the same father.
Thanks again Rick

I have confirmed that you are correct. Juan Yanez del Monte is listed as meztizo so he is the one that is the son of "Gonzalo Yanez del monte y una india"
In looking for this evidence I came across two interesting points of view.
1.) that Jose Luis Vasquez Rodriguez also has the parents of alonso peres torello as Diego Rodriguez Herrera (ferriera) and Isabel hernandez munoz like I do.
2.) he has toribio fernandez arellano santillana's wife as the daughter of inigo lopez de mendoza and Maria Laso de fuentes (inigo and maria were related, she was a first cousin to her father-in-law-it sounds funny but the information does match up)
The difference being that I say there is no space in the Perestorello name
I still believe that alonso perestorello comes from the rodriguez perestorello Ferriera Clan
Thanks Bill

This message is for those interested in reading and/or downloading the final will and testament of Lorenzo Yáñez del Monte y Benavides. I just uploaded the entire document, including both the manuscript and transcription, to the Nuestros Ranchos website. The link is http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/17561
