Senor del Camino:
The name of your ancestor, Juan del Camino, does appear on one roster of Nuno de Guzman's expedition. He is listed as being from Montanes and his wife was Magdalena Alvarado. I also looked up the name in my copies of INDICE BIOGRAFICO DE CUARENTA MIL POBLADORES DE AMERICA, TOMAS I AND II, and THE ENCOMENDEROS OF NEW SPAIN 1521-1555, but could not find it.

Juan del Camino
YEs, he is in the roster of Guzman, do you have a copy of that? If its possible, I would ask if you could send me a copy.
Magdalena de Alvarado was a niece of Pedro de Alvarado, conqueror of Guatemala and Governor. Juan and Magdalena married in Spain...since they crossed the ocean together, I believe...thats when his brother Diego Camino succeeded Pedro de Alvarado as Governor of Guatemala. The couple returned to NEw Spain, and first stopped in DF where he reported his regimiento del rey. After the conquest with Cortes he had to go to Valladolid to recieve his coat of Arms from Carlos V. I have found about 4 crossings my ancestor did. One for his wife, one for the King, and his kids, I guess. -Daniel
