As someone new to geneology I wish to thank all who have contributed to my education at Nuestros Ranchos. I have been very successful in searching lines throughout Jalisco. Now the problem is that the records I need are not available (Don't go back far enough) and are missing. My question is if, for example, baptism records begin for a particular church in 1775, is that when the church first began baptisms and earlier records do not exist? If particular dates are missing (Ten year)does that mean they do not exist? or they were just not posted?
I have searched FamilySearch library and these records are not available to order.
Are their other resources? Is there some list of when particular churches were founded? Thank you for your help. Deedra Corona

Thank you Jaime Alvarado for your assistance. Your suggestion is a good one--so I'll put it to the group.I am researching in Tenamaxtlan, Jalisco. I am searching for the marriage of Juan Joseph Arechiga and Maria Olaya Oliveros (Esp.) All of their, at least 10, children were baptised in Tenamaxtlan; the first in 1772. They lived in Rancho Temascal. I'm assuming the marriage took place abt. 1771. I have found who I believe are the parents of Juan Joseph and his siblings in Cocula, Jalisco (Juan Antonio Arechiga and Cathalina Gomez) but I can't confirm it. For Tenamaxtlan the marriages start in 1781. I've checked the Informaccion Matrimonial in 1749-1785 and 1759-1802, but they only seem to list Indios and Mulato Libres. I also checked in Cocula's marriages for around that time with the same results.I've checked all of the baptisms and marriages for the children for possible aunts and uncles as Padrinos with no results. I was also unable tolocate the Baptism for son, J
oseph Cipriano Arechiga, 15 Oct. 1772, in Tenamaxtlan; even though I have the indexed information. If anyone has any ideas of where to look your help is greatly welcomed and appreciated.Thank you,Deedra Coronacoronaarechiga

Deedra,
One of the records you are looking for can be found at: https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/show#uri=https%3A//api.family…. That corresponds to image 334 to baptisms for 1773 for the church of Sagrado Corazon, Tenamaxtlan, Jalisco. However, the record for Joseph Cipriano Arechiga Olvera actually reads October 15 1772 (very likely a clerical error) and that is why it was indexed into LDS Family Search, and the reason you could not find it among 1772 records.
Sincerely
Jaime

The address of the website, URL, of each document at FamilySearch can be
copied and pasted into the the messages. Each page has it's own specific
address. It's makes it much easier for those that want to help.

Dear Deedra,
In some cases records were lost, others may have not been filmed, yet a great number may simply be misplaced, or located in the original parish, which may not be the same as the church you are looking for. For instance, records for a particular town, may have been held originally in a larger town, up until the time when the local congregation was large enough to justify a new parish. In order for the members of NR to provide you with more help, please give the specifics of the towns and timeframe that you are looking for. There is always the possibility that someone may have encountered (and solved) the same problem.
Sincerely
Jaime Alvarado

If you found the info listed in familysearch, the info is there, maybe if
you look for the film number in the record and then look for the specific
film....
