I located a proposed marriage for Thomas Romo de Vivar; HL of Maximo? de Vivar and Luisa de Los Angeles and Juana Peres in a document in the Informaccion Matrimonial 1676-1710; Image: 100 Juana Peres is widow of Lucas Ruis de Esparsa. Among those giving witness is Miguel Ruis de Esparsa and Christoval Ruis de Esparsa who mentions that Lucas was his blood brother. Does anyone have a clue as to who were their parents? Many thanks to Bill, Daniel, and George for helping resolve the mystery. This document was so interesting because it appears Juana Peres was so well respected by her husband's family that they were even willing to give testamony so she could remarry. Sounds like a good novela!

Father of Thomas Romo de Vivar
I believe the father of Thomas is Diego Romo de Vivar, and not Maximo. On the first page, part of the name is not visible on the image which makes it difficult to read, but I think it says Diego.
In the second image, in the "Declarasson del contrahente" it says, in part, "que se llama Thomas rromo de vibar y que es natural de esta villa y su pe [padre] se llama Diego rromo de bivar y su me [madre]Luisa de los angeles"

Dear Deedra,
Miguel Ruiz de Esparza was one of Lucas Ruiz de Esparza's cousins. At the time there were two primos named Miguel Ruiz de Esparza, on was son of Andres Ruiz de Esparza and Catalina Gutierrez de Bilbao and the other was s/o Ignacio Ruiz de Esparza and Elena Lopez. We cannot determine which one was in this document as a witness, but we do know it is one of those two.
Thanks for sharing this document!

Hello Deedra,
Lucas Ruiz de Esparza, first husband of Juana Pérez Calvillo, was the son of
Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza and Catalina Lozano de Frías. Christobal Ruiz de
Esparza was his brother. Christobal married Antonia de Alvarado y López de
Elizalde. They are my 6th ggrandparents. I'm still looking for the parents
of Juana Pérez (aka Juana Pérez de Cubillos, Juana Galindo) who married
Thomas Romo de Vivar on 21 May 1687 after her husband died. Thomas Romo de
Vivar was the son of Diego Romo de Vivar and María Luisa de los Angeles de
los Reyes, married in México City ca. 1650.

Hello Bill,
This sparked my interest. I also do not have the parents of Juana Perez Calvillo or Galindo as sometimes she was stated as. I had her as daughter of another set of parents, but the timeline does not fit. Based on the timeline she could be daughter of Capt. Joseph Martinez or Perez Calvillo and Magdalena Gomez, originarios of San Felipe Guanajuato, but we need to find a document that leads us in that direction. I find that this family can be at times difficult to follow since some used Perez Calvillo, Martinez Calvillo, Martin Calvillo, Calvillo.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza also appears as Bernardo Salado or Bernardo Salado de Esparza. In various death, baptismal and marriage records some of his children namely Cristobal, Nicolas and Lucas appear as Salado-Esarza or Salado de Esarza, one time even Salado Ruiz de Esparza. A granddaughter of Bernardo, Gertrudis Salado married Eugenio Martinez Calvillo on 22 Mar 1692 in Aguascalientes, s/o Juan Martinez Calvillo and Josefa Carrillo de Sandi.
This Salado/Esparza connection has always puzzled me. How is it that a first generation Ruiz de Esparza used Salado as his surname? Doing some investigation one of the earliest settlers in the region was namely Bernardo Salado married to Juana de Siordia, who belonged to a very well known family, Fernandez de Valaux. Juana de Siordia is my 11 great grandmother, after Bernardo Salado died she remarried to Capt. Francisco Rodriguez Ponce who was a miner in the Minas de Asientos from Lepe, Aramonte, Huelva, Andalucia, Spain s/o Alonso Rodriguez Ponce de Leon and Catalina de la Feria.
I have a question regarding another Tomas Romo de Vivar married to Maria de Espinosa d/o Joseph de Bohoquez y Espinosa and Ana de Morales Biedma. They had Ana Romo de Vivar married Juan Prieto Gallardo on 3 Dec 1691 in Aguascalientes. I have not found the identity of Tomas Romo de Vivar's parents? Do you have any clues. He seems to be an early Romo de Vivar, either a son or grandson of the patriarch.

Daniel,
In your posting of 31 Oct 2011 you said "I have a question regarding another Tomas Romo de Vivar married to Maria de Espinosa d/o Joseph de Bohoquez y Espinosa and Ana de Morales Biedma. You have confused two brothers, Tomas Romo de Vivar who married Juana Perez Calvillo, with Ignacio Romo de Vivar who married María de Espinosa. They were both sons of Diego Romo de Vivar and Maria Luisa de los Angeles de los Reyes. Maria de Espinosa (Maria de Bohorques) was the daughter of Joseph de Bohorques and Ana Ruiz de Esparza (aka Ana de Morales). Ignacio Romo de Vivar married María de Espinosa in Aguascalientes 27 May 1670. The marriage record includes the names of their parents (Matrimonios 1663-1678, Image 34/71).

Bill,
Thank you for clarifying this. I’m going back through all my records and trying to fix, clean and link any other people I might have forgotten.
