I have hit a brick wall and have found the baptism record for a relative that could help. This is the link for the family search site:

I am interested in the names of the abuelos paternos for Hilario Munoz. I believe it is Jose Maria Munoz and Luiza ?
Thank you for your help.

maybe hilario's grandparents were closely related, since they had the same last name(and probably weren't married).
also, how far have you traced the jaimes line?

The abuelos paternos are José María Muñoz and Luisa Muñoz.
The word in lieu of the surname of Luisa is idem which means "the same" and denotes a previously used surname which in this case was Muñoz.
The marriage record of José Muñoz and María de Jesús Jayme states that José was an hijo natural of Luiza Muñoz.

Thank you, Armando. And you are correct that his marriage record says "hijo natural". I have found baptism records for the children of Jose Munoz and Maria de Jesus Jayme and some just name Luiza alone but later children have Jose Maria and Luiza named as abuelos paternos. Perhaps she married later? I'm trying to work backward to find a marriage record or even the baptism of Jose or his mother, Luiza. Any additional information as to cultural practices/naming/marriage after the birth of an "hijo natural" would be much appreciated. Armando, is this part of your family? if so, we may be related.
