Need help, can't find any info on my great grandfather or anyone before him. I was told that my great grandfather Alfredo used his mother's maiden name Avila and Huizar - Paternal - Alfredo Avila Huizar from Jerez, Zacatecas. Anyone with info or where to look please do so. I would greatly appreciate it.
Bracamontes came out in my search
His DOB according to an immigration card found is Oct. 4th, 1903. No parental information found. there are possibilities but can't confirm.
Yes it does have parental information on the back of the card. The back of the crossing the border card that you are referring to. The front of the card says is wife’s name and the back of the card says “Alfredo Avila”traveling with “Mo” which means mother, and “Josefa Macias de Avila. Then for nearest relative or friend that they are traveling to it says “GrMo Feliciana Medina” who is Alfredo Avila’s maternal grandmother. And for nearest relative that have where they are coming from it says Francisco Avila who is Alfredo Avila’s father. It looks like Francisca but it should be a “o” at the end. To see this back of the card go to that image that you have of the border crossing and then click the right arrow twice and it will take you to this back of the card .

Thank you. Macias is nowhere in my research. What border crossing? I found one but stated he was crossing with his wife Angela.
It is in the same border crossing that you mentioned. You only looked at the first card. Look two images later and it says he crossed with his MO ( mother) Josepha Macias de Avila and then for nearest relative they list Josefa’s mother at the bottom
If it helps, I keep ending up with ancestors Victor Avila 1811-1891 son Jose F Avila Bracamontes 1836... according to matches found on ancestry.com
is this him? note that he is attached to Alfredo Macias Avila in family search dot org.
Was the wife's name Angela Cuevas?
what about her? you should elaborate on what you are trying to communicate.
Yes it is Alfredo H. Avila (Alfredo Avila Huisar, Alfredo Huizar Avila) married to Angela Cuevas.
With all due respect, not sure where you are looking at?

Hi,
In your very first post, you asked for help/assistance of areas to look into. All I have are suggestions, and a little extra info on the family from border crossing slide 795.
First,
I have no known relationships to this Avila family, which is the family (listed on border crossing slide 795) that appears in the 1930 Chihuahua, Mexico census. This family does not appear to be directly related to your Alfredo born 1903, Jerez), but may be a relation of some type. First, both Francisco and Josefa were both born in Zacatecas (coincidence?). They were at this location by at least 1906, as all presumed children were born in Chihuahua. The name Alfredo Avila (born 1923), Chihuahua - coincidence?) may have been named in honor of a close family member, so even though this is not your direct family, it may be a branch relation or hint to follow up on.
1930 Mexico Census - Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico (Note: Both Francisco's were noted as Carpenters. Not sure of your Alfredo's occupation, although the Juarez area, and across the boarder had several mines nearby that could likely have used Carpenters, not to mention the general area was growing rapidly.

2nd,
Wife Angela Cuevas was 1st married on 29 November 1919 in Tacambaro, San Jeronimo, Michoacan, Mexico to Felipe Padilla (age 20 -born ca 1899 in the parish), son of Cipriano Padilla (deceased) and Antonia Sandoval (living). Angela Cuevas was listed as age 16 (born ca 1903 in Mexico (City), but in the the parish of Tacambaro (since an infant). Angela/Felipe had at least 3 children (Jose born 1920, Amalia, born 1923, and Marina (Martha), born 1925 (all in Tacamaro). I believe they actually resided in Guanajuato. Felipe Padilla died prior to the 1927 birth of Maria Luisa Avila (daughter of Alfredo Avila and Angela Cuevas). Finding a marriage record for Angela Cuevas/Alfredo Avila could list parentage of Alfredo.
This family appears to have resided in Juarez (Chihuahua, Mexico), Texas, and New Mexico, so perhaps a marriage record exists in these areas.
3rd,
This family does not appear to have stayed long in Jerez, Zacatecas, as there are very few records noted for the Avila/Huisar surname in this area (in this timeframe). There are many Avila/Huisar surnames further south in Colotlan, Jalisco and Huejucar, Jalisco area. This family may have been migrating toward Chihuahua, Mexico and the border, so the areas between Jerez and Chihuahua may be another place to begin looking for possible names that match your family. In the early 1900's, travel was not fast, and it may have taken months or years for the family to arrive in the Chihuahua area.

Jose Huizar Bañuelos and Francisca de Avila are candidates as parents of Alfredo Avila Huizar. They for the time frame but I have not found conclusive proof. They wrote that Alfredo H. Avila crossed with his aunt but forgot to write her name.

do you have birth date range?
