Siblings Catalina Lopez and Diego Gomez Blanco from Teocaltiche in early 1600s

Does anybody have any information about who are the parents for the siblings Catalina Lopez and Diego Gomez Blanco from Teocaltiche from the early 1600s. I am more interested in the Catalina Lopez line than the Diego Gomez Blanco.

I think that Catalina Lopez might be related to either Catalina Lopez de Nava (Jeronimo Macias) or to Catalina Lopez de Portugal (daughter of Diego Gomez).

I am thinking more related somehow to Catalina Lopez de Nava (Jeronimo Macias) since,

  1. Descendants have Lopez de Nava
  2. Padrones from Santa Maria de los Lagos in 1669 possibly have her granddaughters (Maria Garcia and Gertrudis Lopez) and in 1676 (Gertrudis Macias).
  3. A granddaughter of hers is named Maria Gonzalez (daughter of Francisco Prieto y Luisa Lopez). Possibly in reference to the Maria Gonzalez married to Francisco Munoz de Nava

I am thinking less likely related to Catalina Lopez de Portugal, and only thinking it as possibility since parent is named Diego Gomez.

Does anybody know where the ranch El Carrizal was located?

Hi,

Somewhere I read that El Carrizal was located near Ayo but maybe there were other ranches with the same name in other areas of Jalisco (that is what I find nowadays in modern maps).  Does any body know whether it still exists or whether it/they became a town/towns?

It is just curiosity to know in which areas my relatives lived, it is not a matter of going to look for information.

Thank you for your help.

No Pork with Cheese, is this a Jewish influence ?

i would like to ask about a family dietary  custom

My fathers Tia Abuela.. always got very nervous if someone ate

Pork with any Dairy product.  Saying " it would make bumps on the Face ' and admonishing anyone who even considered it..

Could this be a handed down Jewish dietary custom. ?

eating a Pork Taco  with cheese is not something i've ever seen in Mexico, and i never have been so inclined.. it doesn''t see to go together.

Has anyone ever heard of this ?

Romo De Vivar: Descendants of the Influential Jewish Family Ha Levi

I believe that this presentation came from the late Sergio Gutierrez on 2010-03-17 in LA. I think that someone named Miguel Tran....? reposted it on this site. I was able to only download a portion of this presentation? Is there anyone that can assist me in getting a copy of the full text? Thanks, Rolando Romo

Way to show 400 years of family

Does anyone have an easy way to show 15+ generation pedigree for relatives that are curious about from where we immigrated, but don't want to spend much time looking at it?  You know the ones, they are not into genealogy, but they are interested in the direct line all the way back to the 1500's.  Some of those pedigree charts get really small.  Is there something on multiple pages that I could lay out on a table?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Need Information on Hacienda de Cieneguilla, Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico

My grandfather was Jose' Socorro Luevano de Marinez. He was given as an award of the church which I believe was Hacienda de Cieneguilla, in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico at a young age for priesthood training. I am trying to confirm that this was actually a church that trained young people for entry into the priesthood. I actually found the remains of the church/seminary in a Google search. My grandfather was born in Paso de Sotos, Jalisco, Mexico on 12 May 1892 which was recorded in the church, Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico, registry on 17 May 1892. His parents were Tiburcio Luevano and Manuela Martinez. He was then baptized on 18 May 1892 in the church, La Santisima Trinidad, in Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico, where his name was recorded as Jose del Socorro Luebano. He then left the church in about 1914, entering the United States, and was married to Cecilia Montoya on 13 November 1915, in Harris County, Texas, United States. This information was validated by his children and documented in the sources in FamilySearch. He told his children of his place of birth and that he was awarded to the church at a young age for priesthood training.

Jewish Origins of 3 Families from Jalisco

I thought this was an interesting video with regard to the Jewish Origins of 3 families who were originally from Spain and later migrated to Mexico. The Jewish origins of the Pacho, Alcocer, and Vera families, some of their decendants are later found in Jalisco. See video (18 minutes).
