Victor (Villarreal in Zacatecas, etc.)

Regarding Coat of Arms:
I understand to use a "Coat of Arms" emblem, one has
to have proof that he/she is a direct descendant of a
person that was entitled to use that Coat of Arms.

I've seen a number of Coat of Arms for both sides of
my family, but I do not have proof that any one of my
families were ever entitled to use or claim them.

okay this is what I would prefer but not absolutely required.

1) send me a "genealogy report" in .rtf format [go to "view" then to
"genealogy report" then "contents" and then to "number of generations
to show" and limit the generations to your grandparents if they have
passed already. If they are still alive then go to your great
grandparents. keep decreasing the # of generations until you get to a
"report" that has the living excluded].

2) send it to me and I'll make up a folder for you but I need this info:

a) what name do you want each file to have. . .maybe just the Surname
or the Surname and given name of the oldest ancestor?

b) what towns do you want me to include in the description. . .give me
the names of towns included in each report

3) you have time so don't rush. . .if you need more time fine or you
can send in what you have now and later update.

4) I haven't said this to anyone before but I'd really really like for
you to chose the option where your references***

One Reason We Are Mexicans and Not Indios

http://www.kporterfield.com/aicttw/articles/disease.html

I was listening to a book on tape this morning at work that is called
"Demon in the Freezer" its discusses SmallPox a lot and there was a
small part talking about how in 1520 one Panfilo de Narvaez landed close
to Veracruz and how one of his black slaves came on shore with smallpox
and started an epidemic that spread into the heart of the Aztec empire
and eventually made its way all the way to the Inca's in SA. The author
was making the point that Smallpox "softened" up the continent very
likely giving opportunities that wouldn't have been there without its
devastating effects.

I still don't have a full picture of all the historical events related to the first Villarreales in "the New Spain". I know the first Villarreales that settled in Northeast Mexico were involved in mining for precious metals along with other historical characters as Bernabé de las Casas and Martin de Zavala. I believe the first mining sites in Mexico were located in the center of the country and there was a gradual movement in search of new sites in practically every direction. Many of the settlers of Nuevo Leon had already passed thru Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas, etc. on their way up north. I believe such is the case for Diego de Villarreal.

As you know, there are some

Esperanza and Victor,
It is very interesting to me to hear the history of other members.

My grandparents were from the surrounding area of Jalostotitlán, Jalisco and out of 9 children 5 moved to Sacramento, California in the early 1950's. Two died in Mexico and the remaining 2 moved here within the last 10 years. There are so many people that live in Sacramento that are from the Jalostotitlan and Teocaltitan de Guadalupe area. There is also some who chose to live in the Los Angeles area. I guess they all moved down here because of jobs and word of mouth by their relatives or neighbors.

  Hi Victor

Fremont trip

We can be there Saturday the 19th,  Rich and our
son Rick will be golfing on Sunday and then Mon and Tues we make tamales in
Santa Cruz.  then back home on the 22nd p.m.
We are currently doing our homework for our upcoming
trip to SLC this coming April - May.  We will be there about 2 weeks, but
probably only get to the library 3-4 times.
What time works for you on the 19th.  If the 19th
doesn't work for you, we can find out what tee time our son has and work around
their golf on Sunday.
Where about do you live in San Jose?
Since we came from Fremont in 1986, we are somewhat familiar of the area.
I was raised in Santa Clara and Rich was raised in Redwood City.
We will be coming in on 680 or Hiway 80 from
Fremont.

Thoughts on a SLC Trip

Kitty,

My husband Juan and I would also like to meet you. I had not replied because I wasn't sure if we were going to be in town on that date. Our grandson who is with us will be out of school that week and we were planning on going to Ensenda. Because we are undergoing bathroom remodeling we will delay by a few days so we'll be here. I can put on a cup of coffee and get some pan dulce/Mexican sweetbread. Please let me know if that would work. Since we're both at home we are flexible with time.

I can't wait, this would be great to meet up face to face with such experienced genealogists.

I would spend your time at SLC in making copies of those records you
found on the IGI.  If you ONLY go after the extracted documents that
you know are on the films, you should have no problem getting thru
the 47 rolls of film you have.  Then any extra time can be used by
going thru a couple of films slowly.  If your list of documents to
find is listed
