Mariano Gonzalez Leal states in his book that Jose Maria Casillas and Lugarda Villalpando are the pair that was married in Jalostotitlan, Jalisco. The source he gave was my great uncle, my tio Rito Romo Franco. My Tio Rito Romo Franco kept meticulous records. When I was a child, through my early twenties, I often went on family visits with my Tio Rito where he would explain how the person we were visiting was related to us. Even though my Tio Rito Romo Franco took great notes and Mariano says he used this information to identify the parents of Francisco Casillas as the Jose Maria Casillas and Lugarda Villalpando married in Jalostotitlan, some of the people that my uncle identified as being closely related to me through my father's side are not related closely if these are truly the parents of Francisco Casillas Villapando. Or so I thought.
My Tio Rito Romo Franco identified these people as close relatives but I had believed this to be true only if Francisco Casillas Vallalpandos parents are Jose Maria Casillas Cabrera y Salgado and Lugarda Villalpando y Munoz de la Barba. I had completed the majority of my family tree for many generations so I felt that My Tio Rito Romo Franco was wrong one way or the other and thatThe close relationship to me is through one of my paternalgreat grandfathers to these Villalpando Munoz de la Barba.
The Jose Maria Villapando Salgado and and Lugarda Villalpando Munoz de la Barba that I had as Francisco Casillas Villapandos parents were married about the same time but in Tepatitlan Jalisco. My Tio Ritos wife, Maria de Jesus Barba Padilla is related to this Lugarda Villalpando

Most genealogists still follow Mariano's statement that the parents of Francisco Casillas Villalpando is the couple married in Jalostotitlan. since his reason for making this statement was my uncles records I felt that they were mistaken since I had repeatedly been told by my maternal uncle that these people were related to me through my father. From looking at my records i felt that Mariano and my uncle were wrong. But a couple of years ago, thanks to the dispenses brought to life by Claudia Casillas, I had stumbled on the dispensa on a De La Torre branch of my tree. It is by revisiting Jose Maria Casillas family tree and comparing it to this newly found dela torre branch that I finally found how my great great grandfather was related to this other Jose Maria Casillas and that my Tio Rito's identification of Jose Maria Casillas and Lugarda Villalpando was correct all along.
