For those that feel strongly enough please send me an email to
makas@nc.rr.com so I can unsubscribe you.
It is my opinion that there is enough valuable information within the Somos
Primos newsletter to continue sending it to the group. Do I agree with
everything within its pages, no, do I agree with some of the things within
its pages, yes. The parts I agree with I use, the parts I disagree with I
reject. However if I feel strongly enough about the disagreeable parts I
would consider taking it to the author or even discussing it in a forum that
is political in nature. The NR group is not the political forum to share
your opinions. Look over the SP newsletter and you will find some nuggets of
valuable information and you'll also find info that is disagreeable.
On my computer I have a mouse that is trained to just click and delete
things that I KNOW I won't agree with. I even have an option called "Create
Rule" that allows me to enter key words in a subject that will automatically
delete email that I find offensive or dangerous.
Again if my sharing the SP NL with the group if so offensive please I beg
you to either unsubscribe yourself or send me (makas@nc.rr.com) an email so
I may gladly accommodate you.

Ps: I'll be unsubscribing folks that continue a dialog that is political in
nature.

This is getting way too much attention folks !
I totally agree with Joseph on this matter .

Unsubscribe Please
Joseph,
I know you unsubscribe those that put up threads that are political or otherwise inappropriate for a genealogy site, and I agree with you that bringing up the monthly index for Somos Primos you share is helpful since there are informative things to be found there as regards genealogical and historical topics of interest to us. I just ignore those topics that are political and just click on the topics that interest me.

Question on Unsubscribe Please
Joseph,
I think Victoriano Navarro suggested you cut out the editorial intro when you post the newsletter. Is this an option since some find the rhetoric offensive? Other forums also add a disclaimer "opinions expressed by X do not reflect the opinions of NR". Another option.
I'm just wondering what can be done so that everyone is comfortable. Many seem outraged and I understand how that's possible.
Finally, can you clarify what your PS remark means? Are you saying, that voicing an opinion on political rhetoric is considered ' continuing a dialog that is political in nature'. I don't want to misinterpret your message/warning and it's ambiguous. I am questioning as I'm concerned that having an opinion on political rhetoric is being equated to including political rhetoric as part of a genealogy newsletter and intro.
Just trying to understand the rules.....
Thank you,
Maven
Question on Unsubscribe Please
Joseph,
We have the choice of subscribing to three groups of NR --- Research, and the two others. Could you set up a fourth, such as "Other Newsletters" and post the Somos Primos indexes there?

I'll be adding wording similar to or exactly as follows to the messages that
contain the SP NL in the future:
"The opinions expressed in the Somos Primos Newsletter DO NOT necessarily
reflect the opinions of the moderators of the NR group or the group in
general"
Joseph Puentes
Ps: please discontinue discussing this topic on list. If you have an issue
with the SP NL being posted to the group bring your discussion right to the

Thank you for this update. I, for one agree with you about politicizing a genealogy forum, it is not the place nor would I contribute nor read these posts. However, there's value in the updates (only genealogical ones) due to the nature of research and assembling the puzzle we all face when searching ancestors.
Thank you, and please continue to inform as always,Teri Romero ~~ Teri Romero ~~

Barking up the wrong tree!
A site dedicated to genealogical research needs site managers that show empathy for how the members feel regarding divisive and racist comments. Anybody that feels offended by these political bombs that are included in somoprimos posts should be allowed to complain about them. It's the managers job to delete the offensive posts, not to threaten to unsubscribe those that are offended and complain about the divisive and racist posts.
If something isn't done about the offensive comments from somoprimos you won't have to worry about threatening to unsubscribe people, the offended members will exit the nuestrosranchos.orgmunity, and you will be left with a much smaller membership that doesn't mind being part of a group that welcomes divisive and racist posts, but disapproves of the complaints about the divisive, racist, and inconsiderate posts.
We need empathy and compassion, not threats, divisiveness, and racism.
You are barking up the wrong tree!
