Archives of teh Indies
Joseph,
I have been trying to figure how to set up an user/password on the AER site but have not been
successful. Could you give me guidance on setting up user/password?
Thanks,

Archives of AER
the site is very very very user-unfriendly. best I can do is offer these
instructions vague instructions: http://aer.mcu.es/sgae/
okay here is my try [EVERYONE please fill in an possible missing steps
to the below]:
1) Being very careful to only use the latest version of Microsoft
Internet Explorer go to: http://aer.mcu.es/sgae/index_aer.jsp
2) then click on "Alta de usario" Fill out the form making sure to
scroll down to the place where you pick your login and password.
3) click "Acceptar" and a pop up window will open with your "Tarjeta
National de Investigador" number. Write this number down.
4) and click "ok"
5) click on "Salir"
6) Now go back to the home page: http://aer.mcu.es/sgae/index_aer.jsp
7) and put in your new login and password in and click on "Aceptar"
8) Now the home page opens and when you go to use the search engine for
the first time you get this message: " AYUDA Si usted accede a AER por
Proceda a
Gracias. "
9) So at the right top click on "Nuevo Tema" and then fill out that page
of info requested and click on "Guardar."
10) on the next page click on "Volver" then you should on a page where
it has that info you just filled out on a single line and a Magnifying
glass symbol on the left. Now when you see this you are ready to go.
11) click on the Magnifying glass and put the keywords you are searching
for as well as any other exact data and click "Buscar." This site is
just a little slow so when you click on something give it just a little
time to give you the results. Multiclicking on things will only slow you
down. On the few pages you might find that are actually available as a
scanned view you will need certain additional software plug-ins. When I
clicked on the Camera Icon indicating o! ne of these scanned views the
site asked if I wanted the plug-in added to my computer. I said yes and
then a second message came up for another plug-in to be added. I said
yes and after that I could clearly view the few I tried to see. Well
this is my effort at how to view the site. I'm sure there is a lot more
that can be learned in using the site so please do share what you learn
in your exploration.

[I think these are those plug-ins mentioned above
