I am making the switch from a PC to a Mac... not as extreme as it may seem since the new Macs run Windows and Windows applications natively in addition to Mac operating system and software. But I would like to find some good genealogy software that I can use on the Macintosh side of the system.
I remember a few months ago there was some discussion on this and I posted a link to a site that deals with Macintosh genealogy software but I was hoping I could get some "real life" feedback from people who have actually used the software.
Genealogy software for Mac
Arturo,
I made the switch to only Macs 1-2 years ago and did the usual research on genealogy software for Macs. The best I could find about one year ago was Reunion 8 which has mixed reviews by others. It has the typical Mac feel but I am not a heavy user of it. If you want me to perform a task with it, e.g. charts, whatever, just let me know and I will tell you what kind of possibilities exist. I suspect that your needs (Web) and level of sophistication are a lot higher than mine. Despite my additional degree (Masters Information Systems), I try to keep my computer life simple and easy, hence my switch from the horrors of PCs and Señor Gates' software. I used to love Linux but even dropped that.

Genealogy Software for Macs
Arturo,
I am a born-and-raised PC user; but, coincidentally, a couple of weeks ago an aquaintance was singing, over coffee, the praises of Personal Ancestry Writer II (at something like Version 67), and its integrated capabilities for web page generation, charting, and publishing.
But, then again, who can ever take seriously a Mac User.

Thanks for the tip. As far as web publishing goes, I use a PHP based software called The Next Generation, which you can check out on http://www.ramosfamily.org/nextgen. It is great because it is not static... pages get generated out of a database. It is the same software that is used in the GEDCOM section of this site.
I would be content with nothing but that but unfortunately it does not have very good charting capabilities, at least not for printing of charts... I have used PAF for that until now but am looking to try other software that is a bit more powerful. I will look into the Personal Ancestry Writer that your friend recommends. He has a great site BTW.
