I would like to introduce myself..my name is Juanita Torrez Henniger. We believe that part of my family orginiated from Augascalients and San Luis Potosi. I have been searching for my roots for a few years now. Sometimes the research has been easy, but for my great grandmother's family Tobar or Tovar I have hit a wall. My great grandmother (Romona Tobar/Tovar) passed away one year before I was born so I never got to know her. Romana married Pilar Valdez who was born in San Luis Potosi in 1889. Pilar's parents were Pedro Valdez and Matina Sandate. Pilar and Romona immigrated to Texas in 1912 bringing with them their two daughters Eliza who was born in Piedras Negras (1906) and Herlinda (1912). I'm looking for birth cerificates, bastimal records, marriage records anything. I've searched Family Search, Ancestry.com and other sites.
I have been able to research the Valdez side of the family, but have not been able to get far on Sandate or the Tobar/Tovar of the family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that Pilar worked on the railroads. I have tried to find records for railroads that would list the mexican workers, but have not been able to find that either. One last thing, my Grandfather Esteban always would describe referred to my Great Grandmother Romona as an Indian. Well there I omitted a word he always used to describe her ;) but it seem Great Grandma did not care for her son-in-law very much and had quite a temper.
Once again the families I'm researching are the Tobar/Tovar and the Sandates. Thank you and I look forward to meeting everyone.

Introduction
Juanita,
I have taken a look at the research that you have done on your family, especially on the Valdez-Sandate marriage. Instead of looking in Cerdo, San Luis Potosi look in Mexquitic de Carmona, San Luis Potosi. Here is a link to their marriage record: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-20473-6640-16?cc=1860864&…
From that marriage record I have been able to identify her christening date, siblings, parents and her grandparents. I have only been able to identify them, I haven't been able to look at the records yet. If you would like, I can send you a list of the people and the dates to research.
thanks,
Jonathan Walker
Introduction
Jonathan,
Oh wow, this was fast. Thank you so much! I've looked at the link and am having a hard time making out the writing. My Spanish is minimal. I did take Spanish in school and that allows me to figure out words here and there, but it takes me awhile. I'm not familiar with Mexico and the states so I have been doing some reading and research to help me better identify where my ancestors lived. My research has given me a great deal of respect for the hardships that my ancestors endured. I appreciate you looking at my research and I would really appreciate a list of the names so that I might research them.
Thank you,
Juanita Henniger

Welcome, Juanita.
If you haven't already seen these, you'll want to add them to your records

Hellow and thank you Raul,
I had actually found the name, but had not been able to find any evidence that Conseulo was their child. I knew all of my great aunts and did not know Conseulo. I had been looking for a death certificate to match and missed the obvious of looking for a birth registration. The census report I did stumble onto last month. But from the this record I see that we have been looking for my great grand mother in the wrong place. Thank you so much. This is extremely helpful. Everyone has been so helpful and I'm so grateful that I found this site.
Thank you,
Juanita Henniger
Introduction
Johathan,
I found the list of names, christening dates of Sandate sibilings, grandparents etc. I also found a marriage record for Matena's parents, but after looking at the marriage records for that I year I think their might be an error in the date. I'm going to try a different year today. I am having trouble reading and understanding Pedro's parents names. If you could help me with that I'd appreciate it. After reviewing the record you posted I have a awful feeling that I've been researching the wrong Pedro, but I'm grateful that I'm the right path.
Also, since I'm new here, I want to make sure I'm posting in the right forum.
Thank you so much for your help.
