Is there a history book or published paper on the first Spanish families of Zacatecas, Mexico, preferably in English? I have read the papers from John P Schmal on the History of Zacatecas and its indigenous people but I wanted to know if there has been a write up on the ranches and the first families of Jerez, Zacatecas, in particular, Los Rodartes. I am right at the point in my research wanting to know more of the peoples of my ancestors and why they settled where they did. Who was the first Rodarte family from the “Los Rodartes” area? Where did they come from and when? Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Rodarte bullfighters
A Rodarte branch migrated from Zacatecas to Coahuila around 1860.

los Rodartes, Zac
.
I visited upper and lower los Rodartes in 2003 and they still breed bulls for fighting there.
My family came from el Durazno about 3 miles from los Rodartes.

Fundadores de Zacatecas
I have a pdf file of "Fundadores de Zacatecas" from two different books that I can send to you and they discuss early Spanish settlers. Send me your email and ask for it and I'll send.
The charts are from: José Ignacio Dávila Garibi, “La sociedad de Zacatecas en los albores del régimen colonial, actuación de los principales fundadores y primeros funcionarios públicos de la ciudad” (1939: 132 pages and 16 genealogical tables)
Other copies of pages are from: Juan J. Zaldívar Ortega, “Zacatecanos y vascos: Tomo I” (1999: Fondo de Cultura Zacatecana, 128 pages).
They consist of selected pages, not the entire books.
