Hello all,

Does anyone know if there is, in fact, a 1610 padrón of the Villa de Santa María de los Lagos?

I have read that Santa María de los Lagos by Alfredo Moreno González contains a simple list of inhabitants transcribed from the original 1610 padrón. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a copy of the book.

Does anyone know more about the 1610 padrón, the original document, or where I might find the info from Moreno González’s book?

Good day.

I have a copy of the 1610 manuscript from Santa María de los Lagos. I am currently co-authoring an article on it with Jorge Barba and will gladly share the article as soon as it is finished. The list of residents (67) was made on the 15th of February 1610 by request of regidor Juan de Burgos and certified by Lorenzo de Padilla Dávila, alcalde ordinario.

Anytime! By the way, we are also including an older list from 1570 contained within the same manuscript, which details the "Vecinos de Arriba" in the jurisdiction of Santa María de los Lagos. Given that Santa María de los Lagos was founded in 1563, this 1570 list is among the oldest in existence and includes many ancestors such as Alonso de Alba, Santiago de Pedrosa, the Macías, Álvaro de Ornelas, etc.
