It is great to count you in as another cousin. It looks like our closest

Delgadillo as your closest common ancestor.

Joseph,
My Castañedas were from La Estanzuela, Zac. I connected with Anna Arellano
(wife of Jose Muñoz) who is/was a member of NuestrosRanchos and the other
was Carol Lester. The three of us descended from three different children
of Manuel Castañeda and Maria Antonia de la Torre. I am also thinking that
one day I might tie in to Helyn's Castañeda's line, but only time will tell.

Castanedas from Tlaltenango
I am a descendant of a Castaneda lineage from Tlaltenango as well... I have traced this lineage back to the 1600s...
Antonio DE CASTANEDA
Father: Antonio DE CASTANEDA
Mother: Mariana PEREZ
Wife: Catalina GONZALEZ
Married 17 Nov 1711 Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas
Children

2. Andrea DE CASTANEDA
3. Pedro Joseph CASTANEDA GONZALEZ, b. 1712
4. Juan CASTANEDA GONZALEZ, b. 1718

Castanedas from Tlaltenango
Arturo, this record is another example of how the caste system was not as strict as Mexican history implies. I also have lineage of Mulato Libre's who marry Espanoles. Everything I read says caste systems were not to be crossed but the marriage records say otherwise.. just an observation.

Castanedas from Tlaltenango
Good Day!!!! The names listed below are also my directs, as well for Angie Godina. I have not submitted this line as I have a glitch just down the line a bit, that I have not been able to resolve for a few years.
I also have the information listed below, do believe I shared it with Angie.
Arturo, are we now double cousins?
Saludos, Helyn

Cousins Multiple Times Over
Helyn:
I am sure we are cousins through more lines that the Bugarins and Castanedas. I just looked at your surname listing and I also have many other surnames you have on the list and they all go back to Tlaltenango/Colotlan/Jerez in the 1600s: Campos, Carlos de Godoy, etc. You should take a look in my database and see where else we might be connected. I am related to Angie in several ways and to Rosalinda in about 26 different ways. All of us come from the sae group of families who were in the area back then... there weren't that many of them so I have come to believe that basically anyone whose family goes back that far in the area is basically related to everyone else.
I am sure the same phenomenon exists with the early families in Los Altos, etc.
Castaneda Family from Tlaltenango
Yes, Helyn, Arturo and I share the same Castenada family.
I have been keep a running tally of all the connections I have made and I think I am related to about 11 ranchos members...
And all the families are related... like that one article said there is only a finite number of people and if you count the number of ancestors we had 300 years ago some of them are bound to repeat...several repeat within my own line :-)

Database for Connections: was- Castaneda Family from Tlaltenango
Angie (I'm one of your 11 Ranchos primos) can you make a database of who
you are related to? The kind of database where others can enter in
their info and who they are related to as well. that way we can see how
many ranchos members are related to each other.
I actually remember back when we were on Yahoo that you did this. Is
that file still on the Ranchos site.
Could something like that be done fairly easily on Excell?

Database for Connections
Joseph,
I did try to create one last time but it never fully got out of the development stage. I will try again.
I'll let you know when I have come up with something.

if you are in contact with those people can you ask them if they still
want to be part of the group. I haven't heard from them for a while.
thanks,
joseph
ps: I'm thinking I might be a Castaneda in Helyn's line as well but only
a guess as I really don't have any evidence.
