Following the principle of documenting each generation and looking for "who's your daddy's, daddy's, daddy's, daddy's, etc.",
I've discovered and documented 18 generations and bridged it to Spain. When in doubt, I ordered the microfilm of Mexico's church records of baptismsm, marriages, and public records to verify my research.
2 sets of 11th Great Grandparents from Spain.
My 11th Great Grandparents' (Hernando de Escobedo (b. abt. 1520) and Leonor Juairez from Spain) son Hernando, Jr. (b. abt 1542) married my other 11th Great Gtandparents' (Alonso de Illescas (b. abt. 1520) and Bernadina Diaz) daughter Mari. Henando, Jr. and Mari left from Toledo, Spain and arrived at Nueva Espana (Mexico) on 24 March 1568. In abt. 1571 he discovered rich gold mines (now named Santo Domingo). In abt. 1593 he founded the city of San Luis Potosi.
Hernando, Jr. and his son Francisco, a Spanish Captain, (b. abt. 1569 in Zacatecas, Zacatecas) founded Jerez, Zacatecas and his son founded Monte Escobedo. Apparently Francisco received 1/4 of his father's property. and in today's money that was probably more than what Bill Gates is worth.
Now if I could only figure out how to claim a lil' bit of that fortune! Ha! Ha!

Dear Joseph, good job. If you get something don´t forget your " Nuestros
ranchos" cousins.
Only one point. The royalty papers of the foundation of The city of San Luis
Potosi, said that, was founded on November the 3th of 1592 by: Capitan
Miguel Caldera and Juan De Oñate (who was later New Mexico Gubernator), and
the royalty writer was Pedro Venegas.
In April 1593, Juan De Oñate gave city land to the first people.
The land was separated to the next people: Hernando De Escobedo (Your
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGF),Tomas Rudor, Alonso De Velasco, Jeronimo de Cabrera, Manuel
Jorge, Juan Ramirez and Hernando Sanchez Urdiales, Ana de Toledo, and
others.
Hernando Jr, was there, but he didn´t stay in the foundation papers.
If you need information, I am from San Luis Potosi, and I have several books
that talk about this

Thanks, Primo!
When it rains it pours!
It appears that I've discovered generations # 19 and #20 via Francisco de Escobedo's wife Maria de Covarrubias. They appear to be mostly in Seville and Granada Spain.
I suppose it's easier when it's the ancestors of Monte Escobedo -- famous people have their pedigrees well documented!
My head is spinning from all the available data!
P. S. I have some Villalobos in my family line as well.Jose Carlos de Leon

Anita, I have info posted on Rootsweb.com on Miguel Caldera but mostly from his sister Marias' line, those are the Caldera's from the district of Jerez Zacatecas mostly. They took the Caldera name instead of their fathers. There is also info from Susan Leniski in our Nuestrosranchos section you would be interested in, if you have a problem accessing it I'd be glad to send you a copy. I have 3 Caldera lines I have been trying to merge together with no luck so far.

I have a few Caldera that pepper my Family Tree but mostly in the 1700s and 1800s, but I don't know if that's any help.
Attached is the reference to Captain Miguel Caldera I found on the Message Boards. It appears Caldera received 15 varas as Stock-Shares in the Santo Domingo mines.

I couldn't have done it without my primos' help at NuestrosRanch
Hello Anita
All the information that I have is from the books of the Historia de San
Luis Potosi from Primo Feliciano Velazquez
They said that Capitan Miguel Caldera was natural son of Pedro Caldera from
Villa de Jerez and a Chichimeca india.
He was born in 1548, they think some place in Zacatecas. He died in
September of 1597 in San Juan Del Rio Queretaro.
He had a natural daughter Isabel Caldera who married with Juan De La Torre,
and they have two children, Marcos y Melchor De la Torre.
Miguel Caldera have two half brothers Cristobal Caldera (Lived in Fresnillo)
and Don Francisco Caldera, and one sister, Mari Cid, married with Hernan
Gonzalez, they had a son, Pedro Cid.
I hope this information Help you.
Regards
Cristóbal Villalobos

Following the principle of documenting each generation and looking for
"who's your daddy's, daddy's, daddy's, daddy's, etc.",
I've discovered and documented 18 generations and bridged it to Spain. When
in doubt, I ordered the microfilm of Mexico's church records of baptismsm,
marriages, and public records to verify my research.
2 sets of 11th Great Grandparents from Spain.
My 11th Great Grandparents' (Hernando de Escobedo (b. abt. 1520) and Leonor
Juairez from Spain) son Hernando, Jr. (b. abt 1542) married my other 11th
Great Gtandparents' (Alonso de Illescas (b. abt. 1520) and Bernadina Diaz)
daughter Mari. Henando, Jr. and Mari left from Toledo, Spain and arrived
at Nueva Espana (Mexico) on 24 March 1568. In abt. 1571 he discovered rich
gold mines (now named Santo Domingo). In abt. 1593 he founded the city of
San Luis Potosi.
Hernando, Jr. and his son Francisco, a Spanish Captain, (b. abt. 1569 in
Zacatecas, Zacatecas) founded Jerez, Zacatecas and his son founded Monte
Escobedo. Apparently Francisco received 1/4 of his father's property. and
in today's money that was probably more than what Bill Gates is worth.
Now if I could only figure out how to claim a lil' bit of that fortune!
Ha! Ha!

Go get the "tajada"
Well, maybe you will walk the way to El Dorado!
When I was starting my genealogy trip read about a girl who was searching her roots because she was requested to prove her belonging to the certain family by the surname Luft I think it was, she couldn´t make it in the requested time but contracted the genealogy seed.
Maybe you will get a good "tajada" (piece of cake).
Leticia Leon te saluda.
