I just wanted to share something wonderful that has happened because I post my files on Rootsweb.com.
I was contacted by a lady who said she had found out she was a Castanon by birth and was searching for her fathers line even though she never met him and was brought up by a step father. She said they were from Cutler and Dinuba Ca. and since my gr-grandparents, Vicente Castanon and Maria Gertruds Caldera, had lived there until their deaths in the 1940s I felt there must be some kind of connection. I contacted a cousin who grew up there and she was able to contact someone who knew who this lady was and is putting her in contact with half brothers and sisters she didn't know she had. She is very excited and happy to be able to find the missing part of her family of origin. I don't know how it will work out but at least she gets a chance to find out.
I asked her how she found me and she said she saw my files on Rootsweb.com and hoped I would respond. She is the reason I post my records in the hopes that I can help someone else to reclaim a history, a family or a connection to the past.

Long Lost Family
Hi Linda,
How are you? I'm so happy you belong to this site as well. I just discovered it a few days ago.
Linda, that was a beautiful story and you are a very beautiful person for doing this for someone. My family and I are always telling EVERYONE about what you did for us. Because of you, I have all of my Menchaca ancestors that I have been looking for, for so long. Only if my grandpa didn't die two years ago, he would know who his ancestors were as well.
I can't thank you enough for all that you do. I hope you get this.
Always,
Norberto Menchaca Morales III

Long Lost Family
Well hello, so glad you found this site, it's wonderful and you will learn loads from this "family."
I just updated my records today on Rootsweb.com and you probably already noticed the record for Dimas Menchaca that takes his family back to Pedro Menchaca abt abt 1740 and wife Maria Xaviera Lopez Vanegas abt 1750. You may want to check and see if I have entered anything that might be of interest to you. I just completed and recorded the entire film 0439851 Jerez baptism and if you can use it I'd be glad to forward it to you, also film 0439856 Jerez baptism, just let me know if they would be useful to you.
Welcome to Nuestrosranchos,

Finding lost family
Congratulations on your new family member. I will put posting on Rootswb on
my to-do list.
Finding lost family
Thank-you for sharing that story. You have reminded me that I got started
on getting my files together to post on Rootsweb, but never finished. I
think only of the insignificance of the information to my own research, that
it's just a bunch of useless information to my direct line ancestry. But,
you have reminded me that what may be insignificant to me, may be of great
importance to another. Thank-you, again, for sharing that.

Happy dance/Leticia Leon
Awsome Linda in Everett! that makes every effort worthy; for us because of the satisfaction, which is a poor word to describe the sentiment, and for the others because they enjoy the consequences of keeping the search. I hope it results fine for every body and for you recieve my congratulation and a big hug; is it worth to make the dance, some refers when making a find? anyway I wish you a happy dance!
