Hi all:
I was hoping someone could take a look at the
informacion matrimonial for my great grandfather's
marriage to his first wife. Specifically, there's one
word that I can't make out under the "Consentimento"
part. I'm hoping someone on this listserve has come
across similar language.
The word begins with a "p" or "f." I can send the
photo if someone has time to look at it. I hope to
hear from someone soon...thanks.

Pineda" in that folder upload the scan of that record so we can all
have a look.

Chris, In all likelihood the word would be "pretensa" meaning the one who is aspiring or seeking to be married. "Pretenso" would be a male suitor aspiring to get married. I hope this helps..........Alicia Avelar Olmos de Carrillo

I think you're right...I think it does say "pretensa."
So does this mean that Pedro Pineda and Maria
Natividad Godoy, the mother of the bride, were at the
marriage of their children?
I've attached the file under the Rancho 2 section.
Thanks so much for your help,
Chris Pineda

not sure about the marriage, but they were there for the gathering of
the information indicated on the Informacion Matrimonial document on
the 5th of Feb. When was the marriage?

The marriage, that of my great grandfather Nicanor
Pineda and his first wife, Antonia Minjarez, was in
1903 in Tlaltenango.

what I meant was if the informacion record was on the 5th of feb then
the marriage was probably sometime after that. do you have the actual
marriage document?
the information should have happened some time before the marriage.

Chris
Chris, It does not mean they were there for the marriage but it does mean that they presented their children to be married. Before they could be married they had to be presented to the church, the church then had to investigate to see if they were related or not or if either one had been previously married. This could take months. Once the Catholic Church completed the investigation they would say they could be married if not related or if widowed or married previously. If they were found to be related they would issue a dispensation stating what relationship they had to each other. Alicia Chris Pineda <pineda37@yahoo.com> wrote:

Alicia and Chris,
I also was thinking that the word is "pretensa" since I have recently seen
a statement like that in one of the records I was researching.

Yes, Joseph and Arturo,
Don't cancel the links on the new website. I only use the online
Family Tree program throught Ancestry.com and the only way someone can see my
trees as I update them is to have my link to those trees at WorldConnect on the
website.
Thanks,

great. . .thanks for the comment. No we haven't forgotten the links. I
was just emphasising to Arturo that we need to get the groups feedback
before we completely built the site. We have all the links to move over
and all the resources other than genealogies in Ranchos2 to move over.
In time we'll have everything we had in the current Ranchos and more.
Again thanks for the comment. we need your feedback.
