Was the Nueva Galicia the location where mostly every european immigrant would settle?If so what would be the reason that they settled their?What other type of european group besides Spaniards would settle In the Nueva Galicia region specifically in the region of Los Altos of Jalisco because that's where mostly all my ancestors settled?
Might anyone have any additional information on my ancestor Maria Gutierres De Hermosillo who married Nicolas De Quesada on 08 Feb 1717 in Nochistlan Zac.
Unfortunately their marriage record did not provide their parents.
So far i have found four of their offspring.In the baptism record of Juan De Dios the padrinos were listed as Pedro Gutierres & Mariana ?, but I highly doubt these individuals would be Maria's parents they were married on the same year

Last night I tried to review the following microfilm: Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Matrimonios 1626-1723. I am disappointed in that the handwriting is almost illegible for the late 1620's (I don't know about the rest of the microfilm because I did not get far). Do these entries appear on the IGI? And are there any transcriptions or translations available of the records?

I found the marriage record for this couple and it seems to have a lot of information. I can make out the parents of couple and their ages. I'm having trouble making out the rest of it without getting confused. In the record there seems to an infante Eliza and the grandparents names or at least I think it is. I would appreciate help in gathering this information. Thank you.

Mi antepasada, Ana González, nació alrededor de 1700 en Tepatitlán. Por una dispensa matrimonial descubrí que fue hija de un Luis González y hermana de otro Luis González.
Por otros matrimonios familiares, sospecho que era hija o nieta de Luis González Dominguez y de Antonia Rodríguez de Frías, pero me falta una generación. ¿Tendrán más información sobre esta familia? Sé que en el libro de las Familias de Nochistlán aparece la descendencia de los González-Domínguez, pero no encuentro el libro por ningún lado.
Agradeceré cualquier información que me pudieran proporcionar.

I have been researching the Jerez area for some time. As I have found in many parts of my family, the intermarriage between families is breath-taking and predictable. For the longest time I had a brick wall in one line but recently found it in Jerez, where I should have looked before. An old document suggested that Antonio Villegas married Barbara Cablar, but it turns out it was a "typo" by the priest; it should have been Barbara Cabral. Once I realized the mistake, with many other supporting documents, the Barbara Cabral (born c. 1745 in Jerez) link takes me back to Domingo Cabral, I believe, courtesy of Nuestros Ranchos member Salvador Cabral, see http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab… and http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab….
Furthermore in the course of reading the above links, Salvador offers the following with respect to the apparent connection between the famous Miguel Caldera, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Caldera or in Spanish http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miguel_Caldera, and Domingo Cabral in the link here, http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab…. I have read Powell's book on Miguel Caldera, see http://www.amazon.com/Mexicos-Miguel-Caldera-Americas-1548-1597/dp/0816…, and Powell specifically does not mention many Miguel Caldera direct family members since Miguel did marry. Powell does discuss Miguel's niece, illegitimate daughter Isabel, and subsequent marriages of these two.
My question is what is the documentation in the link, http://jerez-zacatecas.galeon.com/archivo/genealogia/cabral/archivo/cab…, where the "extended" Caldera family is discussed? I offer this question not as an argument but simply as an attempt for clarification. Miguel Caldera was a very important figure in the Nuestros Ranchos area. I would have emailed Salvador Cabral directly but I do not have his email address. Furthermore, I think Miguel Caldera discussions are probably interesting for this group.
By the way, I for one am grateful Salvador Cabral is a member of this group.

Im trying to find these individuals parents as well but i just can't seem to find them either they are form nochistlan zacatecas i descend from their son Jose Del Refugio Jauregui he married Maria Encarnacio Lozano middle 1800's.

That is my photo that I took before I ate it. It is eaten in the ranchos of our pueblo of Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.
I am wondering if it originally came from Galicia, Spain? Because I have subscribed to the facebook page of Descruba Galicia. And at one point someone in that facebook posted a picture of the exact same thing that we eat called, "Gorda"
In other parts of Mexico I have never heard or seen the gorda that we eat in that format in my picture. I know that we have Gorditas in Mexico, but it does not have the format of the "gorda" that we eat in the ranchos of Huejuquilla like in my picture. Just to add more, in the ranchos we also dring "Atole Blanco" Which is a thick hot white flour drink.
Perhaps someone knows a "next step" and can help me continue to build a
family tree. I am looking for an ancestor, "Manuel Carrillo Buezo" born
sometime in the late 1700's. He is my great, great, great grandfather. He
had three children (perhaps more and I have yet to find them), with two
born in 1818 and 1826 and the third birth unknown at this time. This leads
me to assume his birth in the late 18th century. At this time I have been
going through the church records of Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco and not
finding his baptism yet. It is family lore that the first Carrillo in our
family arrived in Tamazula from Burgos, Spain. I do not know how true that
is. But if there is no record of Manuel Carrillo in the Tamazula church
records, then he must have come from some other region of Mexico or from
Spain. *What would be the next step if that is the direction I must
follow?* His
wife, "Lugarda Ochoa Moxic" (probably Moxica) has yet to be looked for at
this time and her information may be very useful in this search should I
find her records. ****

As I've been trying to put together a family tree of my Pinedo line, I was thinking that I should share my progress for any others doing Pinedo research.

For example, I've noticed that in Jerez, between 1760s to 1780s, there appear to have been 4 different Pinedo / Acuna couples having children. So I'm wondering if these may have been 4 brothers who married 4 sisters. If anyone has traced their roots to any of these Pinedo / Acuna couples, and gone beyond, please let me know.
Also, let me know if you have any ancestors who should be here.

I am fairly new to this and have learnt to be patient when searching through ledgers with
undecipherable handwriting. I would appreciate any tips or advice on what to do, or more importantly,
what not to do, in order to achieve the best results out there.

I am a descendant of Antonio Romo and Juana Olivo who married abt 1870 in San Luis Potosi. I have heard an old family rumor that they ran away together to marry. I have not been able to find the parents of either of these two. As far as I know they only had one child, Claudio Olivo Romo abt 1874 in Corpus Christi. He indicated that he has not been successful in contacting the author's son, Nick de Anda Sanchez, to make arrangements. He wonders whether he changed his email address.
