ranchos

Enter your vote today!  A new poll has been
created for the
ranchos group:

You can only vote if you have
already
submitted your genealogy, but even if
you haven't you can still
influence by
giving your opinion via an email to the
group (freedom of
speech).

Question: Should the requirements for
being a member of
Ranchos be More Strict
(have your genealogy in hand to submit
before
being accepted into the group);
the same as now; or less Strict?

I
will not change anything unless 75% of
the permanent members vote and if I
get
60% of those voting to vote for one of
the choices.

  o More Strict
  o The Same
  o Less Strict

  o Other

Did you get an email with the subject "Ranchos2 Maintenance
(2)"? some did some didn't. We have 59 members in the Ranchos group But 72
members of the original Ranchos group.  that means that 13 of you all are
not benefitting from membership to the Ranchos2 group and all the information
in the "Files" area of that group.

So if you didn't get that "Ranchos2
Maintenance (2)" email you need to contact me so I can send you an invitation
to join the Ranchos 2 group.

Perdon. I'm one of the foot draggers you've just describe. My apologies and request that you keep me connected until I can manage things a little better. I read all that comes across, always looking for a connection, so this exercise is not anyones waste of time. I want to fully describe what I have so far but may not be free to do so until after the holidays. I hope that's OK?/Adelante

Since I have not been able to find hardly any information about my
Dad for a family tree, I vote for "less strict".

New poll for ranchos

I think it should be the same or less strict. This site can be inspiring for others to begin their research, particularly if a connection was found.

If any out there, like myself or Alicia Wissing, has Family Tree Maker and you want to send information via email, then take notes.

To begin, you first need to be in your Family Tree Maker program.  Let's say you want to create a pedigree chart for a specific individual.  Simply go to the person's main page.  Then click the "Ancestor Tree" icon button on the upper task bar.  Once the pedigree chart is displayed exactly as you want it, and between 3 to 5 generations, click the "Edit" button in the upper task bar, then "Copy," then "Copy Ancestor Tree."  By doing this you have saved the tree.

Then go to MS Word, and open a new document with reduced margins.  I usually put a .5 margin framing the entire document.  Then right click your mouse and click on "Paste" from the small template that appears.  The Pedigree Chart you copied appears inside your MS Word Document.  Simply drag the lower right hand corner and stretch it to the full size of your page.

To copy a family group

DoNotSendGenealogiesToTheGroup!/was MartinDelCampo

DO NOT send the group a FTM file!

do either of two things:

1) send me the .rtf or .doc file perferably as a genealogy report, I'll
make a private folder for you with your email address on it in the
files area or. . .

2) do the above yourself.

I'm wanting to keep the message archives "Public" but the genealogies
"Private" so sending the genealogies "to the group" would defeat that
purpose.

Also just a note. . .for those that have not sent anything in please
start with your grandparents going back for privacy sake. I'd hate for
some of your currently living relatives to get upset because you put
their details on the net even in the private manner I'm trying to
maintain.

thanks much for your participation.

joseph

ps: see my notes with regards to your message

Maria,

I'm guilty of not sending my information in.  I've got my Martin del Campo name traced pretty far (thanks to Mr. Hernandez helping me overcome a hurdle) but I really wanted to trace the Romo de Vivars before sending information in.  I've been awaiting some info from the Mormons for almost 3 months - they cashed my check and never sent me anything.

Joseph is laying down the law and I don't have the option of waiting any longer, I guess!
Now I have to figure out out how to send the group a Family TreeMaker file.

My Saldivars also supposedly are connected by
marriage to Moctezuma, too!  Small world, huh?  Anyway, it's only myth
so far.  Marge:)

Marge,

You think you've got problems, I traced my Martin del Campo family to the
Romo de Vivars, which leads to the Ruiz de Esparza family, and supposedly they
descend from Moctezuma.  For whatever reasons, people laugh
hysterically when they hear Moctezuma's name.  And former President
Lopez-Portillo was a Martin del Campo, as well, and that elicits more
laughter.  Sadly, my grandparents came to Carpinteria, CA to pick
lemons and green beans, making all these discoveries seem unreal to
people.

Hi, on my Villarreal side, one of my distant cousins supposedly can trace our family to Spain's royal family.  This has been known in my family for generations.  When I first found out about it, I asked my aunt why she had not shared it with the next generation.  She
