Okay folks I am soooo sorry to say that as of today
there are 70 members
of the group. In the files and links area I have
genealogy submissions
for 35 people.

That leaves 35 people
unaccounted for.

I have been in communications with Maria Cortez and
she is looking into
Copyright Protection for our genealogies. Now if the
35 of you that
haven't sent in your work are hesitating because of that .
. .well
you'll have to communicate that to me. Then again if you have
other
reasons you'll have to communicate that to me. I guess what I'm
saying
is you need to communicate your reasons.

Otherwise on March
1, 2004 the 35 of you will be getting an email from
me. And if you don't
reply to

Maria Francisca Marquez

Hey! In doing my research, I also found a "Maria Marquez" in my
line. My Great Grandfather, Baudelio Aguirre, was born on July 29,
1885. I have no dates for her, although I know she was married to
Jacinto Aguirre, and her parents names were Remijio Marquez and
Simona Raigosa, who were married in 1850. I know your dates are way
older, but any chance of a relation since my Maria Marquez is also
from Tlaltenango, Zacatecas?

Hi Joseph,

I just
sent you an email about updating my tree.
I’ve done a lot of research since the last time I spoke with you and
have been able to go back to 1850 to the marriage of my great, great, great
grandparents.  How do I update it?

Teul Zacatecas

Hi Dora,

Teul is in the state of Zacatecas, but close to Jalisco. I think the
full name of the town is Teul de Gonzalez Ortega. It's south of
Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman. I looked at a map on Expedia. I have
never been there myself.

The Castros I am searching for are not directly related to me, but
they are direct ancestors to a cousin. Did any of the names ring a
bell?

Maria,

Where exactly is Teul?  Is that near Zacatecas, or near Jalisco?  I have some Castros in my family but I am not sure if they are your Castros.  My Castros came from El Castro, Sain Alto, that is closer to Sombrerete than Zacatecas.

Let me know and we can compare notes.

Garcia Carraffa encyclopedia

I need to apologize to the group. I made an offer awhile back for you
all to send me your names you wanted from the
color="#0000ff" size="2">Garcia
Carraffa encyclopedia. Well I contacted the University of Tennesse and
they said that the 500 pages needed to be consecutive in one volume and
that they would have to handle my multiple request for surnames in
their 88 volume set of books as multiple charges of $15. . .so I'm not
going to do this but wait until the next time I can cruise over to the
Library of Congress and fotocopy my own.

sorry,

software

Carol,

I use PAF 5, which I downloaded from the Familysearch (the LDS
website). The product is free. You can't beat that! This version
follows the Microsoft standard interface. So, if you are familiar
with the use of Microsoft products, you will not have too hard of a
time learning to use this product. People become accustomed to the
product they learn to use first, so each person will have a
preference for one product over the other. I reccomend this one
because it is free, and I've been able to produce every kind of
report I've ever had a need for.

All the files I have uploaded to this website have been produced
using PAF 5.

software

Hi Carol,

I had previously used a program called Generations. I
have since switched to a free program which you can
download off of Ancestry.com . I have actually found
this program to be easier to utilize. It has the
ability to create charts and a variety of other
reports. Pretty awesome for being free!! In my
opinion it would be the perfect program for the
beginnings of your genealogy.

Good luck!!

Sincerely,

     -Esther Valencia

As for myself, I have always used Family Tree Maker, by Brøderbund.  While I cannot say anything about RootsMagic, I am quite familiar with Personal Ancestral File.  I have always found PAF cumbersome and awfully hard to manipulate in.  Even doing the simplest of commands is a mindboggling undertaking.  Sorry to any PAF fans out there, but I give it two thumbs down.   :(

I would like to familiarize myself with RootsMagic.  Sounds good.  While Family Tree Maker is great if you want to create custom made reports, single person descendancy charts, pedigree charts, family group sheets, and many other things, I do not have much freedom to arrange the items in a family group sheets in the precise order that I want.

Family Tree Maker also makes really nice picture pedigree charts.  I have been doing this for a while now, and it's really not hard to do at all.

Regards,

Steven H.

software

I use Personal Ancestral File. I got it because it was only $6. It
gets the job done, so I haven't looked into any of the other programs.

software

I switched from Family Tree Maker to RootsMagic. I prefer the
charts available especially the Pedigree and Photo charts.

Yes,
I agree that this is an excellent vol. set.  Hopefully Stephen will
continue to keep us up to date as to when the newer ed. will become available
since he knows Dn. Mariano Gonzales-Leal.  I was able to fortunately
access (via Interlibrary Loan) both vols. 1 & 2 of the first ed., and the
information is incredible.
Vol.
2 covers last names from A-Gomez-Portugal.

Maybe Stephen could put in a word for me, and include my (5th Great
Grandfather) ancestor, Vicente-Ferrer Gomez, (Please see the following
VicenteGomez family tree) and not just Agustin, his brother in the newer
edition.  :)

software

I am using Family Tree Maker. It is one of the
biggest ones on the market.

Okay,
maybe just mention that Agustin had a brother, Vicente-Ferrer Gomez.
