It appears to me that Leal was the civil judge. "El Juez de Estado Civil,
Jose Leal Cantu." Flores appeared before him to present his own child and
that of his wife, "que es hija legitima suya y de su esposa Virginia
Ovalle."

I was hoping someone could help me make sense of this.

Why would Jose Leal Cantis appear with Guadlupe Flores to present someone
else's child?

I just learned that my grandmother's US birth certificate was false and I am
trying to locate her correct birth record.
