Hi Joseph and Victor--
I just returned from a conference, so sorry for the delay. First-- I have four siblings for Juana Rufina: Juan Crisostomo, Pedro, Melchora, and Francisco Damasio. How does Maria del Carmen connect? Did you see her parents' names on some document? I haven't seen her before, but I know that I often don't or can't find additional siblings. The family is from the Tlaltenango/Colotlan area, so it may be a match. However, I have nothing on Maria del Carmen, and for the parents, Francisco Rodriguez and Michaela Rosaria de Castro, I have not found their parents or any other information. Can we solve this mystery?

SLC Trip overwhelm !!

Alicia, you could do it one roll at a time at your
local FHC. I encourage you to go to SLC for your own pleasure
and curiousity but after this just order the films from your local FHC--one at a time for your viewing leisure. If you feel it's a great film, order it permanent (3.50 x 3=$10.50). Marge:)

Instructions in English please

Could someone please give 'step by step' instructions in English on how to find phone numbers on the two web-sites that Jon Walker posted. The English link still is not clear enough for those of us that don't have the Spanish skills. I was surprised to hear that someone actually found a phone number. Kitty Cortez
Thoughts on a SLC Trip
Forums
Alicia I would spend your time at SLC in making copies of those records you found on the IGI. If you ONLY go after the extracted documents that you know are on the films, you should have no problem getting thru the 47 rolls of film you have. Then any extra time can be used by going thru a couple of films slowly. If your list of documents to find is listed by film number, and then date, it goes rather fast and you can take 2-3 rolls of film to the film printer room. As I mentioned before, do your homework now in creating that list. Take your clipboards to separate your surnames into your pedigree branches. Rich and I will be there the end of April thru the first week of May. We also probably will be back the middle of August again. Our grand daughter goes to Weber State in Ogden and yes we look like the Beverly Hillbillies carrying her stuff back and forth. I would not be surprised if 25% of your films are actually at the library. When you call in your films to

Inside Scoop on the Family History Library
Forums
Jonathan,
According to the IGI records, all 47 of the films I'm presently interested in are in the vault. Does that mean that not one living soul has ever looked at these films? Am I treading new waters?
There are several books I'd like to look up, If I find relevant information can some of the books be foto copied? or scanned?

There are many reasons why I do the majority of my researh, in Salt
Lake at the Family History Library.
1. You have access, to all the films that the FHL has. All the films
that your local Family History Centers can order, and also all the films
that are restricted to Salt Lake only.
2. The films that are off-site (vault), you can always order them into
the library. There is no charge, to order the films, from the vault.
It usually take 1 or 2 days, to arrive. Also, the films then stay in
the Library. Because technically, all the films that the FHL has should
be in the Library. But until a need is shown for the film
SLC Trip overwhelm !!

Well here I am now getting ready to go, I have been doing my homework in terms of all the advice I've been given. Much of the homework I had done months ago as far as the IGI database to identify which films to order and some I did when we went to Tlachichila in Sept 2004. All of this data is what compelled me to go to SLC. There is so much that needs to be looked up and verified that only a trip to SLC will do it.
I found that I would get very agressive and order many rolls of film at my local FHS and by the time my 3 or 4 weeks were up I'd only had a chance to review 2 or 3 rolls, hence the trip to SLC. I will be there for 3 days and nights but somehow I don't believe that will be enough. I see from some of your responses that some of you go several times a year. That also tells me that 3 days will not be enough but I also know that I don't have the financial resources to go often.
My question to those of you who have completed or are very advanced in your quest to find your

Marge,
I think that's so cool, "the geneaology rate". My husband got a kick out of that one, he says where else can you get a discount for claiming your deceased relatives.
