These forum posts are from the old “Ranchos Archives” which was part of a Yahoo Groups system that operated between 2003-2006. This was a hybrid of electronic mailing lists and internet message boards. message of interest for cell phone users

I'm passing this along, in the event you were unaware, as I was!

Subject: Cell Phone Telemarketers

FYI....

JUST A REMINDER... 31 days from today, cell phone numbers are being
released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive
sales calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS...

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:
888-382-1222. It is the national DO NOT CALL list. It will only
take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.

OR you may go online to register your home and/or cell phone at:
www.donotcall.gov .

hi Jonathan and Francisco,

my Spanish is pretty good conversational Spanish but I wouldn't go past
that. For interviews in Spanish I am looking for volunteers so I can
put up Author interviews online via my podcast. What I want to do is
find willing volunteers to go to the "books in print" database [ask
your local public or university library if they are subscribed to this]
and scroll down to a book to a subject they are either studying or want
to study and try to arrange an interview with the author. What I've
done is google the authors name and try to find an email. Contact the
author and ask if they would be willing to be interviewed. If they
respond positively then you would ask them to send you a list of
questions they would feel comfortable answering in relation to their
book. OR. . .or you would just give them the telephone for 10-30
minutes and let them give a presentation about the book that would
include a reading or two, but I don't want the session to be nothing
but

Genealogy Podcasts

Here are some podcast sites, that are about genealogy:

Dear Myrtle Family History Hour (posted every Tuesday):
http://dearmyrtle.com/

The Genealogy Guys Podcast (posted every Sunday):
http://www.genealogyguys.com/

Nuestra Familia Unida:
http://nuestrafamiliaunida.com/

For those of you, that are new to podcasting. A podcast is a audio
program, that is put on the internet, for people to download and
listen to, at their own leisure.

Also, for those of you, who are using a dialup internet connection.
Remember when you click on the podcst button, to listen to the
podcast. Remember, that podcast has to download. Usually, the
podcast are aleast 10 megabytes in size. So it will take time to
download.

I have listened to all the podcasts, that are on each of the above
site, and I have really enjoyed all of them, and I have learned
something new, from each podcast.

Hi, I hope you are all enjoying Hispanic Heritage Month events and
activities. This is a good time to give positive visibility to our
ancestors.  The featured article is on National History Day, an
opportunity for each of us to help encourage inclusive history within
our community schools.

A big thank you to all for the interesting materials, articles and
information that I receive in abundance.  If you have sent something
which you've not seen published yet, please let me know.  It is
difficult to keep each issue under 180 pages, and keep a balance, and a
variety.

This notification is a service, if you prefer not to receive it, please
let me know.

Warm Regards,  Mimi

As an aside, I would like to say that the NARA Symposium was great,
particularly the sessions with George Ryskamp. I also enjoyed meeting
you Joseph and Natalie.

There was not much of a turnout but I hope they continue to do these
symposia... Next year we have to help them publicize the event a bit
more.
