Retonos de Espana en la Nueva Galicia

I have seen this beautiful last name in my research.
Is it Basque?

Francisco has been in communication with Mariano
Gonzalez Leal and has
received permission to make copies of the book and
send them to one
location in the US where they would be distributed to the
indivduals
interested. I'm understanding that he is talking about the
current
edition and that there is due out an update but I am not sure
when.

If he is talking about the current edition how many of you would
be
interested in a photocopied copy? Let me know so we can get an idea of

how much interest there
is.

thanks,

joseph

Yes, Joseph, it's something to celebrate----our ancient RNA/DNA calling to
us to find each other.  Sure, I'd make capirotada, but I prefer posole to
menudo since I don't like tripa---I prefer pork shoulder. I could skip the
lengua and cabeza (eeww---mad cow disease).

We are in Las Vegas, and at the first opportunity we found a good
Mexican restaurant, Diego's at the MGM.  It was great--a guy made fresh
guacamole at our table, and the food was so good.  I had the green chile
tamales (made from fresh corn) a Tesoro margarita (smooooth), chiles rellenos;
my husband had tacos al carbon (garlic-lime marinated skirt steak, etc on a soft
corn tortilla); three flavors of flan and coffee for dessert-----are you
drooling, Joseph?

I think after a few margaritas we could all do a passable Jarabe
Tapatio.

Thank you.

The books cover the first Spanish settlers of Los Altos de
Jalisco.
Some families do extend to other states, so you might find
some of
your ancestry covered in one of the chapters.  I have a copy
of Tomo
I which contains a "Plan general de la obra" for all the
subsequent
Tomos (II - VI) and has all the surnames covered.  If
anyone wants me
to check for any surnames send me an e-mail.

Each
chapter begins with the first settlers and then traces their
male
descendancy. Sources are cited for every bit of data.

Southern California meeting

Rosalinda,

I live in Northern California and was present for the Sacramento meetup but I would be willing to travel in February to either the Central or Southern California areas. When It comes to geneaology I am willing to go, provided I don't have a pressing previous commitment. Please count me in.

Muchas Gracias,

Since I was so impressed with the Sacramento meeting, I would like
to arrange something similar, since I'm sure there are many members
who would like to meet in the Southern California region.

Please
tell me the following:

1.  Do you prefer a meeting in the Los Angeles area or Central
California, as someone suggested in a previous message, so that
members in Northern California could meet us?

2.  Is January or February the best month for you?

If I can get ideas as to

Southern California meeting

I
would love a meeting in Southern California/Los Angeles area.  I'm from the
San Gabriel Valley.
I'd
love the opportunity to meet with anyone from this group.  I'm thinking
February would be good since
we all
would need a month to "decompress" from the holidays......
