I just made a new discovery today regarding my husband's direct
line ancestry. I have known for about 6 months who his GG maternal
Grandparents were, Hilario de Jauregui and Maria Concepion Olasaba who
married 12 May 1824 in Nochistlan Zac, but today I discovered that
Hilario and Ma Concepcion are also his GG paternalGrandparents.

Hilario de Jauregui and Ma Concepcion Olasaba had 7 children
that I know of so far.

I missed the point right here. Name the children. Are Antonio and Maria
Guadalupe children of Hilario and Maria Concepcion above?

so you have:

your husband-->Antonio-->who was this
person?-->Francisco-->Hilario/MariaConcepcion

your husband-->MariaGuadalupe-->who was this
person?-->Juana-->Hilario/MariaConcepcion

yeah it looks like 3rd cousins to me.

just like my grandparents were 3rd cousins

The City of Colotlan was segregated Spanish/Native
Indians, when did the segregation end? I noticed our
family started to mix with the Indios in the early to
mid-1800's.

What small battles took place near and around the
city?

What type of life did women have to endure during the
late 1700's, early 1800's in regards to family,
survival, work?

What type of education was provided during the 1800's?

What is the most significant tragedy that stands out
in Colotlan's history as well as a joyous occasion
that that will always be remembered or stand out in
history?

Well I could keep going with many questions but then
the interview would go on for two days!

Questions for Colotlan interview

These are great questions! Some of my questions are:

New Discovery Today!

Sorry guys, had to share this story, it's too much for me to hold in.

I just made a new discovery today regarding my husband's direct line ancestry. I have known for about 6 months who his GG maternal Grandparents were, Hilario de Jauregui and Maria Concepion Olasaba who married 12 May 1824 in Nochistlan Zac, but today I discovered that Hilario and Ma Concepcion are also his GG paternalGrandparents.

Hilario de Jauregui and Ma Concepcion Olasaba had 7 children that I know of so far.  Antonio Carrillo's grandfather was Francisco de Jauregui and Ma Guadalupe's Grandmother was Juana de Jauregui. Francisco and Juana were brother and sister, therefore that makes Hilario de Jauregui and Maria Concepcion Olasaba my father in-law and my mother in-law's Great Grandparents . Does this mean my husband's parents Antonio Carrillo Jauregui and Ma Guadalupe Olmos Avelar were third cousins? and does this also mean that my husband is his own fourth cousin?

I can hear the sounds of the drums as

Melungeons: Toribio Romo

Maybe that's why they thought my dad was one of them in
Morroco, also in Portugal.  In Spain they talked about him as if he didn't
know what they were saying.  Of course my dad being my dad let them know,
and also scolded them for taking all of our gold to decorate their
churches...   :)

1) She lived in El Paso and I believe was born

Chihuahua!
2) The Moors were in Spain for over 700 years and
I
suppose that many Spaniards, including us, have their
blood in our
veins.  My brother-in-law and his wife
(both born in Los Altos, Jalisco)
just returned from
Spain and told me that the people in southern
Spain
look just like the people from Los Altos, Jalisco.
Also, many of
the north Africans (Moroccans) look like
us; he said he could not tell the
difference.

but Melungeons are such interesting people and are VERY possibly some
of the earliest non Native American settlers on the east coast. the
Story goes and DNA indications seem to say that they were crosses
between the Native Americans and slaves that Sir Francis Drake left
behind on Roanoke Island on 26 June 1586 which interacted with "the
lost colony".  The slaves left behind were captured either in the
Carribean Islands and/or close to Spanish waters that were made of
Turkish, Moors,  and Other Mediterranean peoples,

ps: and it is possible that some of us that have Moor blood floating
around our veins that have roots in  Jalisco, Zacatecas, and/or
Aguascalientes might be related to to them. . .boy was that a stretch
to keep it on topic, wasn't it?

Nomination of Candidates

Arturo,

I appreciate the vote of confidence but I must respectfully decline.
I'm sure other members are better qualified to occupy a place in this
new commitee.

Nomination of Candidates

great nominations along with the nominations of Alberto Durante and
Irma Gomez Lucero and Kitty Cortez.

I'll wait a little while to see if any of the nominated "decline" and
if they don't then I'll set up voting for the 7 persons nominated so
far.

thanks Arturo.

all are people who have selflessly given to me so I trust them to do
the same for others. I have not asked for their permission, so I
apologize if any of them decline the nomination.

We have the De La Torre connection but I don't recognize Rancho los
Cuervos. What are a few De La Torre names in you family? I have
Sostenes, Pedro, Jesus, Pascual.
That is Great-Great grandfather, Great grandfather, Grandfather and
Father (Pascual De La Torre). Let me know if any of these names
sound familiar to you. they were from La Laguna Grande in Zacatecas
