I'm glad to help. I'm not from this area but you'll find a lot of the
members are Alteños. Welcome to the group and please move discussions
about genealogy of our area of Jalisco, Zacatecas, and/or Aguascalientes
to the research@nuestrosranchos.org list. thanks
Anyone here have any Lola Beltran CD's. She has this great song about
Jalisco and I'm not sure its about Los Altos or about Jalisco in general
I've gone ahead and moved this answer to the research list.

Introduction
Introduction to Nuestros Ranchos.
I stumbled upon this sight while browsing through Yahoo. My family is
from Jalisco, mostly Jamay and La Barca. I lived in Jamay, Jalisco for
seven years from 1983 to 1990 and graduated from the ITESO in
Guadalajara. I ended up marrying a girl from Jamay (Castellanos
Flores). Her ancestors are from Jamay, Zapotlan del Rey and Rincon de
Portezuelo. Her father was Ruben Castellanos Muniz, he was the mayor of
Jamay back in 1978. My mother's brother (David Lopez Ornelas) was the
mayor of Jamay in 1973. My cousin is Esther Jordan (Lopez) and she is
also a member of NR. While in Mexico I had the privilege of
participating in the government at the local and state level. I was
named the regional delegate of the State of Jalisco's cultural, social
en sports institute (CREA). I also held several positions in a state
political party. My father's first cousin, Felix Banuelos Jimenez moved
to Arandas from Jamay and founded Tequila Cazadores, Dulceria la
Vaquita, Liquor de Cafe Kakatua, Tequila Espuelas de Oro and Aguardiente
Gallo Giro. He recently began to produce Tequila Hacienda Vieja. He
was also just recently a state congressman for the state of Jalisco.
Hopefully this connection might help the group in the future if we reach
any road blocks acquiring documents from the government, who knows. As
far as I know, my great grandfather Francisco Gomez Macias was the son
of a Prussian. Unfortunately, he was born out of wedlock and nobody
knew his fathers name.
I am completely new to genealogy research and I am very curious in
finding out more about my ancestors and willing to help anyone that I
can.
Thank you for accepting me as a member.

Introduction
Thank you, Daniel, for your reply. Yes, my line ends about 1730 and quite possibly in Jerez as one of my source document shows "San Juan Bautista de Tepetongo ---- de Parroquia de Xerez". I am not familiar with locations and parishes in that area. Possibly Joseph Phelipe de Jesus Gonzalaes Gallegos was a brother. Luck has it, I cannot find my source document showing Juan Jose Faustino Gonzalez, born 23 Feb 1766, father Fernando Gonzalez and mother Barbara Gallegos. This info is in my notes. Am I correct in assuming that the info you gave me was from FHC films. Can I find this on FamilySearch.com? Again, Thanks - Anita

Im pretty sure it was included in the previous post. As you may have notice the farther back you get the easier its suppose to be. My guess would be to order marriage years for abt when Fernando and Bárbara should have married. -daniel
