General de Indias in Seville, copies of which are among the holdings of

as getting a password and I pulled up any old record, and it was
amazing!  The actual photo of the document from the 1500s appeared on
the screen and it had all kinds of info, but the destination was also
"Nuevo Espana" (like in the one below) not any particular state in
Mexico because there probably weren't any states yet. When I tried to
find my particular surnames, I had no luck in navigating to that point
(too mensa).  Only Ancestry.com gets me to my surnames, but alas, they
don't have the actual scans of the AER documents.
