Yeah, the man found the death record of Mercedes and it list her parents as Antonio Medina and Felicitas Magana. I looked them up on family search but I did not found any baptisms or marriage of them.

Jose,
I looked for both Fernando (1910) and Prodigios(1903) in the baptisms for Quer?ndaro and Zinap?cuaro. I also looked in the civil birth registry for Zinap?cuaro because at that time that is where Quer?ndaro registered their children. I did not find anything. Do you have any more info on Mercedes? Sometimes they would baptize children in the mother's home town especially if it was fairly close to where the family lived.

Jose,
I was wondering if you had seen the document that said the father was from Queretaro, Michoacan, because if it was written in Spanish it may have said something like "padres de" in that case they may be refering to the father being from Queretaro and the mother from Michoacan. I have seen that sometimes in documents and was confused until I found others that confirmed it. I am asking because it would have been quite normal during that time period before the revolution (1900-1915). There was a a great deal of movement between Guanajuato, Michoacan, & Queretaro rallying support and then people leaving one state to hide out in another. I have family lines that went back and forth between those states during that time period. Bartolo entering the US through Cuba is interesting. I know there were groups who recieved help from Cuba during the revolution.
Here is some information on a Je. Felipe Bartolo De Leon from El Pueblito, Queretaro which isn't really that far from Michoacan (80-100 miles). I don't know I guess you and Arturo can check it out and see what you think.

Also, I am researching a Magana line in Villa Morelos, Michoacan and have a great great great aunt named Feliciana Magana, but I don't know who she married or if she had any children. I'll look into it see if maybe by some chance it could be who you are looking for.

Sometimes they would baptize children in the mother's home town especially if it was fairly close to where the family lived.
