Estimados Miembros, especialmente Enrique Agraz,

Hola Enrique,

http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=worldcat_org_all&q=Memorias+de+la+Aca…

https://familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?d…

Saludos cordiales,

Saludos!

Dear Members,
The de la Cueva family, descendants of Beltrán Fernández de la Cueva, who died in Tecolotlán in 1684, were related to the Dukes of Albuquerque, but were not direct descendants of the dukes. I found this in Gabriel Agraz' "Origen y Desenvolvimiento de la Familia de la Cueva en Tecolotlán," p. 56 in “Memorias de la Academia Mexicana de Genealogía y Heráldica,” Vol VII.

However, the family was very noble. I am transcribing the rest of the ancestors of Beltrán, so I can share it here. As you will see, it was an illustrious line that has conquerors of Úbeda and Seville in its midst, as well as Knights of the Order of Santiago, etc.

Enjoy!

Estimados Miembros,

http://books.google.com/books?id=btPiv51Fss4C&pg=RA2-PT530&lpg=RA2-PT53…

Gil M de la C (I) que casó por 1295 con María Mexía;

1.- El hijo de Hugo Beltrán du Gusclín;

Hi there Saul, nice to meet you, I don't really have that much of a genealogy done, my only information is the first generation of Quiralte in Nochistlán, which is far from complete, from there I just followed my line that went to Jalisco. but you can always check my website, there I will be putting all the information I have in Family Tree, (since they are not making it truly public) with explanations on each link. Any comment/correction are always appreciated.

Thank you David, indeed, that place has the name on it, I come across with Los Carrillos a while ago, I just haven't found if they are the same, I guess I would have to search for the Carrillo family to find out if they owned that place and thus the change of name. thanks for the tip.

Hi Emilie,

I saw your response and noticed that you know someone with the Acosta name. Does your sister in law get into genealogy as well? I'd like to know more info on this line. I also checked if you were following this line (Acosta) but didn't see it in your list of surnames but I did see you're interested in the name "de Aro"? My 4th great grandmother is Corona de Aro(b.1769) who was married to Juan Jose Acosta (b.1753) and they had at least one son named Jose Maria Acosta (1790-1859) who was married to Martina Castaneda (1796-1841). I'm wondering if there's a connection?

Thanks

Hi Laura,my mTDNA haplogroup is also B4'5. My grandmother was born just outside of Tucson in an area called "Rillito" before Arizona was even a part of the United States.

Her ancestors were likely the Tohono O'odham (Pima),Puebloan or Hopi peoples. Her paternal side were some of the first European settlers in the area and they were Spanish\Basques from Navarra.

B4'5 is interesting as it does not appear to have originated in Siberia as some of the other native American markers did, but appears to have originated closer to China, Mongolia or Tibet.

It's also interesting that it is found among Southeastern Asians, Polynesians in addition to Tibetans, Altai, Chinese and Japanese peoples.

Best,

Robert Gonzalez~

Hello Laura,
I've also tested B4'5/B2.  Have you taken the familyfinder?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else came up with this MtDNA haplogroup.  I've read a little, but apparently, this is fairly common from SW Native American groups and northern Mexico down through Jalisco where it's even more common.

I was wondering if you are Laura A. Gonzalez, if so, we match on Chromosomes 6 @11.28cms, 9 at11.74cms, and 11 @5.11cms.  Like you, I'm not sure how to use it, so what I'm doing is totally the attempt of an amateur to make sense of this.  First, I'm charting people with matches of 5.5cms or more, and second, further breaking it down to those whose 5.5 or more results appear on 3 or more chromosomes.  I figure that the higher and more frequent the matches, the better the match.  Even so, with autosomal DNA being the crap shoot that it is, it will be difficult to find real, documentable matches.  Therefore, it's my untrained understanding, that if you are Laura A. Gonzalez, we are indeed distantly related; however, who is our common ancestor, that is the question.  The more people that test, the better our chances.
Good luck and have fun with it.
Alice

Looks like this is the parish's YouTube channel.

Here's a satellite map and some pertinent info about the town of Santa Clara de Valladares in the municipio (county) of Tacumbo in Michoacan:
http://mexico.pueblosamerica.com/i/santa-clara-de-valladares/

So, Santa Clara de Valladares, Michoacan is about an hour or so SE of Quitupan, Jalisco. They're near the border between those states, so over time the parish and its records may have changed between states, keep that in mind when you're looking.

What you posted looks like the parish address, including postal code (cp), so you should be able to write them, too. "Known Addresses" are valid in Mexico.

How's your Spanish? Because the Wikipedia on Tocumbo is great in Spanish, woefully inadequate in English. http://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tocumbo_(municipio)
I noticed someone named Andrade was one of the town elders in 1800. Maybe a relative of yours?

Added: Address and phone number for Sagrado Corazon parish from the Zamora, Michoacan diocese. I'm not sure how current this info is.
59961 - INGENIO SANTA CLARA. Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.
Notaría Parroquial Tel. 01 (354) 54 2 14 84
-Sr. Cura Luis Manuel Oseguera Fernández

Added: More maps and pertinent info, photos.

I'm on a road trip and not driving, so I'll keep looking and adding. I like a good detective hunt '-)

Hello,
I'm new to this process and to this site. I'm trying to track down my ancestor's, Francisco Villanueva Andrade's, family line. He was born in San Deigo, Quiltupan, Jalisco in 1926. Right now, I'm trying to locate his parent's birth, death certificate information and hopefully their marriage information. Their names are: Faustino Orozco and Antonia Andrade Medina.

I was told Antonia was a very devoted Catholic. I was told she was instrumental in helping their local Parrish building come to be (she contacted the Catholic Church and got the ball rolling to get a priest there...worked in the church until the day she died, and she even raised funds to get the building and priest there). The name of the Parrish is: Parroquia del SAGRADO CORAZON DE JESUS , EN SANTA CLARA DE VALLADARES MUNICIPIO DE TOCUMBO MICHOACAN. CP. 59961. I'm not familiar with Mexico addresses and I tried to Google the Parrish to get more information regarding it and got nothing. I even tried a Catholic website for a Parrish locator and got nothing. I've searched for this couple on ancestry.com at a local family history center and got nothing. I've also searched for them on familysearch.com and got nothing...again.

So, here's my questions...1-What is the best route to take in trying to locate their birth and death information when I am in the US and this information is in Jalisco, Mexico? 2-Is there another database with lots of Mexican files, or do I need to start trying to obtain this information by snail mail or using the "old-school" genie research way? 3-The Parish I mentioned above, is this an address? If not, anyone know how I can locate their address? 3-Would the Parrish have this information? Is this a good place to start in gathering family information? I appreciate anyone who can help me with my questions and/or any tips on genie research.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Starting about 1862, all municipios were required by law to keep civil records of all births, deaths and marriages. And they mostly have indices in them, at least the ones I have read have all had an index in them.

So if you do a location search in familysearch, look in the civil records vice the parish records.

Hello DNA cousin Randy,

I remember my mother telling me about these ruins.  She was told by the adults to stay away because of evil spirits.  They probably didn't want the kids to disturb the ruins.  I believe they are just outside of the small town of Teocaltitan de Guadalupe which I have visited.  This town is also the site where Santo Pedro Esqueda was martyred during the Cristiada.  He was also the priest who performed the marriage of my maternal grandparents in San Juan de los Lagos.  Unfortunately I have not visited the ruins , but do recall reading that this area was originally an Indian village.

Nineteen kilometers from San Juan de los Lagos, where the second most frequented sanctuary in Mexico is located, archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), unravel a piece of pre Hispanic past which is today known as Los Altos de Jalisco, by the excavation of an ancient ceremonial center known as Teocaltitan.

At least 23 architectonic structures that were built 1500 years ago, between 450 and 900 AD, are distributed in the 20 acres that make up the highest part of the Teocaltitan hill.

To archaeologist Marisol Montejano Esquivias, director of the project, what makes this job in Teocaltitan the most gratifying is that it represents a preserved space in an archaeological context.”

“The interesting thing about Teocaltitan, apart from having Teotihuacan influence, is that it has elements that are very characteristic of the region such as the square architecture, sunken gardens in U-shape, pyramids with closed gardens, ball game courts, etc.”

The first drills and excavations that will be made in 2014 in Platform A of Teocaltitan, are focused on proving that these structures were made solely by men, and that underneath this they can find other archaeological substructures.

After two seasons there have been interventions on the west and north side of the ball court. It is from this area where most materials recovered from the project were found, such as: figurines, stone and turquoise beads that provided for the rituals that happened in this space.

Also, the finding of some copper and shell earrings in the northern part of the ball court indicated that this ceremonial center was used again during the Post Classic period (900 – 1200 AD). The earrings where found in the cranium of a presumably decapitated person.

Also, they have intervened in the sunken garden and the central pyramid that closes the site. In 2012, the center of the garden was excavated in an altar where they found secondary burials, bones that are not in an anatomic position meaning they where extracted from their original resting place and re-buried. This context also corresponds to the reoccupation of Teocaltitan in the Post Classic era.

With the restoration of the perimeter wall of the sunken garden and the ball court, the following year they will start opening the archaeological zone to the visitors.

What would be very interesting would be to read what follows as it should detail his ancestry.

I located the information in Americanists Funds Salazar y Castro Collection: Catalogue edited by Remedios Contreras, Real Academia de la Historia (Spain) edited by Remedios Contreras, Royal Academy of History (Spain). That was all the information in the book. I am now searching PARES for the actual document. If I find it I will share it.

New Member Introduction related to De La Cruz, Placencia from San Miguel El Alto, JAL

Hi everyone,

One of the De la Cruz family lines from San Miguel el Alto is closely related to the Lomeli family from San Miguel el Alto. It was through my research of the Lomelin that I was able to find the origin of their close De la Cruz relatives. Three brothers from San Juan de Los Lagos went to San Miguel el alto and started those lines. One used His fathers Lomelini surname, another used his mothers de la Crus surname (sometimes De la Santa Cruz), while the third initially used de la Cruz and did not use Lomelin until he married a third cousin descendent from the same lomellin family. This last brother stayed in contact with both the de la Cruz and the Lomelin lines and left descendents with both surnames. My wife descends from this third brother. My wife's maternal grandfather only used Lomelin but continued recognizing the close familial relationship with the De La Cruz until he passed away at 92 years old. His grand father was the third brother.

Thank you R.A.

I will check into this line to see if there is a connection. I know at one point, I pulled all the De La Cruz around 1860s. I'm sure there is a connection there but the one that I was interested in was Decidero De La Cruz. I found his father and mother listed on his marriage record which led to the baptismal record.

Have you been able to go into the 1700's with the de la Cruz line and if so, are they still in San Miguel?
At that time my wives family are then in San Juan de Los Lagos .

R.A.,
I'm just at the end of 1700's with one reference to parents through a marriage record. I've been unable to find the parents yet although I'm not done researching San Miguel El Alto church records. I haven't started looking around nearby churches yet. Nothing is popping up through Family Search or Ancestry.com. I guess this is where I have to roll up my sleeves and look at individual records including San Juan de Los Lagos. Thanks for the tip!

I checked out your family genealogy line and either I don't have enough info or I'm following a De La Cruz that is not part of Lomelin line…I haven't determined yet. BTW I had to set this aside for awhile due to the holiday and just needing a break. Out of curiosity, how long have you been researching your family's ancestors?

The de la Cruz / Lomelin family was originally from San Juan de Los Lagos in the 1700's. Moved to San Miguel el Alto

Gabriel Serna b.
Tuvieron 5 hijos
Narciso n. 1800 m.con Sirica Duran y Clara Ortiz
Norberto n.1805 m. a Ramona Cervantes
Ma. Guadalupe. n.1806 m. a Honorato Esparza
Macedonio n. 1814 m. a Edwarda Macias
Ydelfonso n. 1820 m. a Nicodimes Duran.

Datos he encontrado ..
