Thanks to member Sally who provided more ancestors for me to research, I was able to find Nicolasa de la Torre, father Roque de la Torre, mother Juana de la Torre, christening date 24 March 1694. FHL film 439844 dates 1685-1716 recorded in Jerez de Garcia Salinas, Zacatecas, Mexico, two generations away from what Sally has called The Tronco of my Gonzales line.
Hello,
This is my first time here. My name is Del.
I am very glad to be a member of this group.
The names that I am researching are: Paula RAMOS born 1-29-1876 in AGUASCALIENTES, married Guadalupe MARTINEZ born 1873 possibly ZACATECAS, Mexico. They married in 1899 possibly ZAC. ZAC., Mexico. They lived in these areas; JALISCO, AGUASCALIENTED, ZACATECAS, CALIFORNIA.
Joseph Puentes,
I noticed that these films are shown in the FILMS section here at NuestrosRanchos and I was wondering if and when they would be available for us to research them here.
Here is an inexpensive way to view this book at your local family history center. Fiche cost 15 cents per page and these two volumes are on 15 individual fiche sheets. I haven't read it but it looks like it goes into some detail about Zacatecas history. If you are interested order a copy for your family history center:
Se puede buscar en el libro de la Sagrada Mitra solo con nombres? O se necesitan las fechas? Necesito ayuda con estos matrimonios que seguramente fueron a finales de 1700's o a principios de 1800's:
On Friday, I received the DNA results submitted by my brother to National Geographic. I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed.
I have been following the extraordinary PBS/National Geographic documentary on the DNA research of Spencer Wells, his theory is the world has evolved out of Africa.

I am new to the group although I have been doing research for many years. I have been successful with my mothers European ancestry search, but I had no idea how to begin research for my family in Mexico. ( I do not speak Spanish as my father believed we should only speak English)
I want to find the escudo de armas that was granted to a Spanish ancestor by the King of Spain around 1580s. Can someone please help me find the appropriate archivo or whatever. Thanks. Marge V:)
...and I contend that their is no discord between science or the
bible...simply gaps we don't understand....as in genealogy...only educated guesses when
one comes to a dead end of recorded history (and I do underscore HIStory).
Unfortunately all of my Lunas are from the Tlaltenango region, you and I could be related, many of the Lunas from Tlaltenango relocated to other regions. if you discover that they are from that region prior to 1800's send another e-mail, I'll try to hekp you.
I was wondering if there are any My Heritage software users? If so, can you please describe your experience with the program, including any success with Smart Matches. Thanks.
What were the population estimates for La Barca, Jalisco in the 1800's, or for the state of Jalisco. I am interested to know how the population explosion of the past 30 years has led to such a lot of different people from other parts of the country.
A few weeks ago I posted this question but received no response. Anyone have any info on Maria Luisa Gonzales Hernandez from Corazon de Jesus, Tecolotlan?
To all those interested in a book of marriage dispensations from
Guadalajara, there is another book called "Index to the Marriage
Investigations of the Diocese of Guadalajara, 1653 - 1750" by Raul Guerra,
Due to the slow turn around time at Salt Lake for ordering microfilm. I have started to order the documents I need. It takes about 2 weeks to get the copies. I ordered 3 microfilmed rolls and now it's been over 2 months. They are running very far behind....I had heard about 6 months behind.
Why is this taking so long? I also am awaiting a Roll of Microfilm, and
it is so far 2 months... Thank you Rose for informing us of this option.
I also like looking at the WHOLE film.

Yes, people at my family history center have been waiting very long, months
at a time, for films to arrive. But, I hesitate ordering more, because the
last time I did so, they all arrived the same week! In April, I got one I
