Who do the Velascos descend from in Aguascalientes? Who was the first in the area? After studying about the conquistadores correct if I'm wrong but I think they were all related since they had the same father or grandfather? Can anyone help me with the Velascos.
Velascos-Teocaltiche, Jalisco
Sylvia Rodriguez Robles
As many of you are aware Teocaltiche is only 40 miles form AG. My great-great-grandmother was named Maria Nieves Velasco and her father was Pablo Velasco, her mother Martina Hernandez. My grandfather was born on August7, 1891 so forty years or two generations, abt 1851.
In the AG phonebook a good number of Velascos and Velasco-Velasco. I am trying to research this area via LDS films and deciding when to jump to AG files.
Velasco in Aguascalientes
Daniel,
The first Velasco in Aguascalientes was probably Hernando de Velasco Salinas, born in Valladolid, Spain. He emmigrated to Mexico and married Juana Lozano in Aguascalientes on 1 April 1619. They had two children, Joseph and Christobal de Velasco Lozano, born in Aguascalientes in 1622 and 1624 respectively. Joseph was baptized at the "Estancia de Xiconaque" owned by Christobal Lozano Martínez, Juana's father. Juana Lozano died after her second child was born. I have not done much research on this family.
