Luz Montejano's book: Hermosillo
To Juanita, Connie Dominguez and other members,
The Montejano book about which you are inquiring is authored by Maria de la
Luz Montejano Hilton, published by her in 1999, and titled "Sagrada Mitra
It is an 803-page 9" x 12" soft-cover book, written in Spanish, that as I
recall synthesizes some 2 to 3 thousands of matrimonial 'appeals' and
'dispensations' sought from the Nueva Galicia ecclesiastical court during
that 3-century time period. It also contains an extremely helpful 204-page
index of the names of the persons reflected/mentioned in all of the
proceedings.
EXAMPLE, (Case Number 720):
Jalostotitlan, Jal.

Luz Montejano's book: Hermosillo
Efrain and Connie,
Would you recommend that we buy this book?
Veronica Vidaure Rahorn
Luz Montejano's book: Hermosillo
Veronica,
I have to agree with Efrain on buying this book. If you plan on extensive research for this area and know many families are connected, you might want to purchase.
I purchased it ($150) because I was trying to re-create all the early Aguas families - not just my personal lines. Although most of the entries in the book are dated late 17th & early 18th centuries, they describe relationships up to 4 or 5 generations back. This was very important to me. Also, at the time, I was helping Jose Luis Rodriguez with the Aguascalientes info for his book. It made more sense to purchase.
Otherwise, for limited use, e.g. for work on just personal lines, I would probably just borrow.
Hope this helps,
Connie Dominguez

Efrain and Connie,
Thanks for the responses. I will take your advice to heart and go look for
the book at the ASU library.
Thanks again,

Saludos.
Jorge Luis Ramírez Gómez.
