Just a simple question.
I understand that the present method probably is quicker and saves time for the original document-recorder person in 99% of the time; but WHY does that person (who creates these documents) NOT bother to include the names of the parents of the newlyweds ???? If the parent's names are not on the record or illegible, that can be noted on the IGI just as easily.
Aren't we ALL grateful when we do find an IGI with that information? Think of the countless MILLIONS of wasted hours saved for the researcher/ descendants.
The information is ALREADY there in 99% of the time.
Why does the person who needs this vital information about their ancestors have to send for that SAME microfilm and spend countless hours of of DUPLICATE research time in doing this?
Just a thought.
re: IGI marriage records
In cases the parents names are included and in others they are not.
But, the main reason why it was not included, is that the LDS extraction workers were instructed to only extract the date, name of the bride and groom. And usually many of the extraction workers, did not or do not even now read Spanish.
So, that is why we have to go to the microfilms.

IGI marriage records
I assumed it was something along those reasons.
Is there ANY way that we could edit / amend / add to those IGI records that are in existance?
Or, are we doomed to accept them "as is" forever?

Marriage Records
Can anyone tell me how to find a marriage record for a couple when you do
not have the location or date of their marriage other than a general
approximation? Perhaps other documents, land records or other court records
might contain this information? I am trying to locate a marriage record for
Benigno Cabral and Pioquinta Gonzalez Figueroa. He was born in Huejucar,
Jalisco in 1828 and she was born in Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco in 1834.
Their first three children were born in Huejuquilla El Alto in 1852, 1855,
and 1856, then the next child was born in 1864 in Aguascalientes,
Aguascalientes. So, I'm thinking they were married about 1851. The family
story is that they were married in Zacatecas.
Thanks,
