Hello all

Has anyone come across a site for the ship passenger lists for Mexico.
There must have been a least two ports where ships coming from Spain
would have arrived, Tampico and Veracruz. Where would they have kept
such records from about 1750 to mid 1800. I'm searching for my SAAVEDRA
line that ends up in Mapimi, Durango, but don't know where to look
next. Would the ships traveled directly to Mexico or would they have
made other stops along the way. Where would the ships leaving Spain
depart from amd is there access to those records. It is possible that
they might have traveled under the BALTAZAR OR SAAVEDRA name, since we
have seen documents where they interchange the last names ?????
Any help or guidance would be appreciated!

Hello Sofia - I hope I am the Yolanda you are referring to. Yes -- I have seen this site. But --- I did check this site again (my Spanish needs work), and I found some more information on my Granillo ancestors! I found several Granillo ancestors in here.....
It appears that (Alonzo Perez Granillo) was a marinero, and his son Francisco Granillo was a Piloto of one of the ships. Under Alonzo's "difunto" information which documents an outline of his personal possessions perhaps. Here's the text: This was recorded in 1583.

"Autos
sobre bienes de difuntos: Alonso Pérez Granillo, marinero, natural de
Triana, difunto en Veracruz. Heredera: Isabel García de Ledesma, madre".
Information on Francisco Perez Granillo:
"Autos
en la Casa de la Contratación ante Alonso de Chaves, cosmógrafo y
piloto mayor, para el examen de piloto de Nueva España, Santo Domingo y
La Habana, de Francisco Pérez Granillo, natural de Sevilla, hijo de
Alonso Pérez Granillo e Isabel García."

It looks like I have found more information to add to the Great Pedigree database from New Mexico. The Granillo's were involved in the 1st and 2nd settlement of New Mexico. There was some confusion (even for me) on how many Alonzo's and Francisco Perez's there were. I now have some more names (Garcia/Ledesma). The Granillo's were in Zacatecas at some point also back in the 1500's.
This is cool new information. I saw this website but I didn't look any further into the various areas within the website. Thanks for flagging me on this information --- I bet others will check it out too! The scans of the original documents that they have posted are great too!
Would these ship manifests contain even more personal information? At least I have Triana and Cadiz records in Spain to check out.

This is a great site!!!! It is a little confusing if you're not familiar with the format and the language and the terminology takes some getting used to, but all in all it's worth the time and effort to be able to view the digitized images. Thank you for your assistance, once again a possible ranchos cousin has come to my assistance. MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS
