The pastor of el Sagrario and la Catedral said the documents are all old and in bad condition. They have them all on film that LDS shot. However, they have no machines to view them on. They said they allowed LDS to shoot all of their documents with the condition they send them film readers. As of 1997 they has still not received them, nor had they been contacted by them... What Franciscan records are you talking about. Thanks Daniel,About Jorge JAIME... the LDS film going that far back in time for baptisms in that area is extremely hard to read and at times unreadable. And you're right. There are only two JAIME males that come to Mexico during that time period mid 1600s. They marry and one of them eventually end up in Zacatecas. I"ve found no connection to that JAIME branch other than a visit that was made by one of my 3x great grandfather in the early 1800s. (another mystery I hope to uncover)I have his marriage investigation, marriage, and death records. All say "de padres no conocidos..." I also have his extensive last will and testimony. Which also says the same. However it does say he was "creado y enterrado con el habito de Fransiscano." Since he was married and had a large family I could only guess he may have been a third order Fransiscan. I've also discovered that the Fransiscans did have the first school in Aguascalientes. The ALBAs were one of the first "wealthiest" to settle the Alteno region. They have a lot of history there. The PEDROZA connection doesn't come in until the 1800s. Or you can look for the informacion matrimonial which may include his parents Ivee seen some cases where the padres are no concidos in the acctual marriage but in the information, the priest or church official would go in town and "snoop around," I do know Pedroza (de la) and Alba are very common Alteno name which has been researched extensively if your in the 1600s your Pedroza line should be easy to connect. I am a Pedroza abt 5 times. So we should be related. Romo comes from Romo de Vivar in Aguas and Maldonado was usually dropped from Perez Maldonado.
