I am seeking information about these two persons, Jeronimo Lopez de la Serna, and Ana Losano, my maternal 7X in-laws. They were the parents of Thomas Lopez, husband of Juana de Soto, who were married on 25 Jun 1695 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes (El Sagrario), Mexico.
Thank you.

Jeronimo Lopez de la Serna = Ana Losano
HI Paul, I have studied the Lopez de la Serda, this is what I have, Geronimo Lopez de la Serda was married twice, firstly to Ana de Lozanoand then to Fabiana de Luevana on 9 August 1682 in Aguascalientes
Heres a quick sumary of the record:
"En la Villa de Aguascalientes en nueve dias del mes de agosotode 1682.....Geronimo Lopez biudo de Ana Lozano....vecino delpueblo de Teocaltiche, con permiso de su parroche? AntonioVillegas con Fabiana de Luevano, esp. hixa lexitima de Juande Luevano, ya difunto y Maria de Alvarado.
It appears Geronimo's parents are not listed because he was widowedand usually the priest would only list the parents on the first marriage. We need to find Ana's record with Geronimo.
I figure he is a son of Juan Lopez de la Serda and Maria de Vielmabut we need evidence, it does appear all the early Serdas come fromJuan who was a son of Luis Lopez de la Serda and Melchora de los Reyes.
Regards,Daniel

Thank you, Daniel! Was Juan Lopez de la Serda born in Mexico? If not, his
father was born in Spain, perhaps?

Hi Paul, what I know is that all the Serdas come from Luis Lopez de la Serdanot sure if he was born in Mexico or Spain but he was Spanish that much Iknow. Juan Lopez de la Serda married Maria de Vielma in Aguascalientesso all the Teocaltiche-Aguascalientes Serda come from this union. Based onthe timeline he is likely a son of Juan, but evidence is needed, he shouldbe at least a grandson of Luis.

He should have been born ca. 1625 or so in New Spain (I know this helps :)?)or Spain, not too sure. Im starting to wonder if Luis was Lopez de la Serdaor just de la Serda. I found a De la Serda married to Sebastiana Lopezand wonder if this is where the last name formed?

Jeronimo Lopez de la Serna = Ana Losano
This is the record I believe started the Lopez de la Serda, Im debating if this is the sameNicolas de la Serda who married Maria de Vielma 30 Sep 1652, I have only found onechild for Nicolas and Maria who is Juan baptized 5 April 1654 in Aguasclaientes, so im notsure if Maria died then Nicolas remarried to this Sebastiana Lopez. Does anyone have this record, Im might have to order this since it pertains to my direct line. -Daniel

Jeronimo Lopez de la Serna = Ana Losano
I was wrong I just checked and Lopez de la Serda could have not possibily have started with Nicolas de la Serdaand Sebastiana Lopez. This name had been used as early as 1575 or so. In the book Genealogia de Nochistlanthe author states that Josepha Lopez de la Serda was daughter of Agustin Lopez de la Serda and Lucia Rodriguezde Victoria according to private email with Mary Lou Montagna. Agustin was son of Francisco Lopez de la Serdaand Francisca de los Angeles, who were born ca. 1575.
