I have read but can't seem to understand how to use the numbering system for la Sagrada Mitra records. I have tried to follow the instructions but am getting nowhere. Can someone please simplify them for a dummy like me??
Getting into the ones that give you the page number is easy but getting into the ones that have numbers larger than the number of pages in the file seems impossible for me.. Help..

Linda,
I think what happened is some time after certain longer films were indexed, familysearch reorganized and cut up some of the films into parts (check to see if those films have parte 1, parte 2, etc in their titles now).
What I had to do is some math: Parte 1 films should match Katy's numbers, but when you get to the end of parte 1, and go to the film with the parte 2 title, you have to subtract the image number that was indexed from the first number on the new film page.
See this index:

Now, part 3 is is in reference to Katy's site, not familysearch, so disregard that for now.
We'll look for the first index, on image 904, Jesus Serrano. That obviously does not match the film linked here:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18429-39494-12?cc=1874591&wc…
The film is 628 images long, with the link taking you to image 2. Notice the first image indexed at Katy's site starts on 890. Subtract 889 (because the film link starts on image 2, not on image 1) from the original index image number, 904. That gives you 15. Type 15 into the image box. and now you are at the record that was formerly on image 904, Jesus Serrano.
I hope this is clear-- this isn't for all of the films, just the ones familysearch changed, but it is irritating. If you need help with a specific record, email me through Nuestros Ranchos and I'll help you.

I gave up searching through that site.
I'm just "chasing my own tail" trying to follow it's instructions; algebra is easier.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are my suggestions to Linda unclear? It's a matter of subtraction, but I'll help anyone who is confused.
Are you referring to Katy's site? I am thankful that she has volunteered her efforts to help the rest of us in our quest for genealogy. I volunteered to index when Claudia's site was active; I hope to volunteer again once I have a bit more time to do so. As I said to Linda, it's a bump in the road that the numbering is off and I have to subtract, but that to me is better than having to search all of the dispensas films page by page.

The good part of this is now we know which film we can find a specific record for even if it means going through the film just like we would otherwise with the help this index gives us. I am grateful for the time and effort shared even when it's a " challenge"

yeah i haven't had the time to fixing the numbering of the record when familysearch reorganized the records. also i think they removed the 1751 records from their site

I don't have an easy time with numbers but now that I know what film a record is in the order of the names it's very easy but takes a bit of time but not like not knowing where to look to begin with!
I am grateful for your work.

thank you Rosalinda.. I will try what you said.. it's harder than I thought it would be since many just show you the record and you don't have to go through all this..
again, thank you

Linda,
It's unfortunate that this happened, but I'll help you if you let me know which records you're looking for-- maybe when I have time, I'll try to help Katy fix the entries. While this makes our research a bit more challenging, I know that when I volunteered to help Claudia with the dispensas, I was trying to help people save time by not having to search page by page in all those films. I don't think anyone quite anticipated what happened when the films were reorganized. I for one view this as another bump on the road of genealogical research. That's also why I am happy to help you-- isn't that the purpose of Nuestros Ranchos? We should help each other. You have been so gracious in sharing your assistance and volunteering your time. I wish everyone was so generous. Just let me know how I can help you!
