Hi, my name is Barb Walker Terrones and I am a new member to this group. I have been researching my Walker tree for ten years and now am working on my husband's family, the Terrones family. I have been able to trace the name back to Antonio Terrones, born about 1708 in Chinampas, Ojuelos de Jalisco, Mexico. I am doing this for my children, as well as my husband's family, so they have a better understanding of who they are and where their ancestors originated. I also am a member to Ancestry.com and am able to assist in searches.
Antonio Terrones married Marta De La Cruz. They had Manuel Villanueva Terrones, baptized 23 Sep 1731 Ciénega De Mata Ojulelos, Jalisco, Mexico. Manuel Terrones married Manuela De La Trinidad De Lira and they had Vicente Terrones born 26 Oct 1768 Hacienda de Cienega, Jalisco, Mexico. Vicente Terrones married Maria Paula Ramires and they had Marcelino Terrones born about 1800 in Chinampas, Jalisco, Mexico. Marcelino Terrones married Maria Prudencia Guerrero and they had Ricardo Terrones.
Ricardo Terrones married Nicolaza Cerdo and they had at least 7 children. Three of those children, Luciano, Sisto, and Serapio, had many children, some of whom immigrated to Los Angeles, CA between 1920 and 1923, most eventually settling in Santa Maria, CA. My husband is descended through Serapio Terrones.
Ancestors from Chinampas, Jalisco area
Hello, my name is Elena Becerra Woodard. Through my mother’s family, I believe I am related to both of you. My research shows that my ancestors from my grandmother on my mother’s side were in the Chinampas, Jalisco area for at least 250 years, before migrating to the US in 1898, settling in Colton, CA.
I am a direct descendent of the following people from Chinampas:
My grandmother: Felipa Canales (1890 – 1981)

Several of my family lines in the Chinampas, Jalisco area intermarried with Terrones.
My father’s family are Becerras who lived in the Tepic, Nayarit area for at least 150 years before migrating to the US and settling in San Bernardino, CA.
Lira on Chinampas
Hi Barbara,
Welcome to the community. I’ve very well-researched on Ojuelos (Cienega and Sr San Jose), as well as San Matias, Pinos, and Asientos, Ags; most of my lines were settled in that area by the early-1700s, and oddly enough, none of mine have intermarried with any Terrones.
I do descend from the Lira on Chinampas, though from an earlier generation, so I don’t have your Manuela de la Trinidad. My ancestor was Margarita de Lira, baptized 7 Jun 1688, born on Chinampas. She married Francisco Becerra, her parents were Juan de Lira and Maria de la Cruz aka Maria de la Rosa aka Maria de la Concepcion aka Maria de la Encarnacion. Juan de Lira and Maria de la Cruz were either Mestizos, Mulatos Libres, Indios, or Coyotes, depending on the record (my Margarita was born Mulata Libre, but was India when she wedded). There were probably 2 Juan de Lira’s married to Maria's living on Chinampas in the same timeline, so I’m still not 100%, but I’ve sifted through the records and have determined that the following are their children:
1. Ana de Lira Candelaria, b. 32 Aug 1669, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (India), m. Gaspar de los Reyes.
2. Juan de Lira-Rosa, (Mestizo) m. Juana de Dios Ubaldo.
3. Jose de Lira Cruz, b. 30 Mar 1675, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (Mestizo),
4. Francisco de Lira, (Mestizo) m. Barbara Sanchez.
5. Manuel de Lira Concepcion, 26 Jul 1678, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (Mestizo)
6. Marcelino de Lira Cruz, b. 26 Jun 1680, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (Mestizo), m1 Teresa de Jesus Lopez m2 Juana Maria Ygnes de Escobar.
7. Maria de Lira Cruz, 20 Aug 1684, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (Mestiza)
8. Dominga de Lira, 02 Jul 1686, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (Coyota), m. Jacinto Martin.
9. Margarita de Lira, 07 Jun 1688, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (Mulata Libre), m. Francisco Becerra.
10. Maria Rosa de Lira Rosa, 06 Jun 1690, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (India)
11. Juan Miguel de Lira Cruz, 08 Sep 1691, Queretaro, Queretaro. (Mestizo)
12. Jacinta de Lira Cruz, 06 Jun 1695, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jalisco. (Mestiza), m. Bernsrdo Rodriguez.
Your Manuela de la Trinidad de Lira is likely a daughter of one of their children, since most remained on Chinampas when they married. So this is a good list to start with. Manuel de Lira is the obvious.
I’m always sifting through those archives, so I’ll keep an eye open for your peeps.
Saludos,
Manny Diez Hermosillo
RE: Lira in Chinampas
Hi Manny,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate your information on the Lira line. I will take your suggestion and start there.
My mother-in-law, Rosita Aranda, daughter of Trinidad Guerrero Aranda and Alejandra Sanchez married my father-in-law, Epifanio "Alberto" Lopez, son of Juan Martinez Terrones and Antonia Lopez, all of Chinampas, Mexico.
Sadly, my mother-law, Rosa, just passed away Monday night. Her daughters and I were hoping to have more information for her regarding the Aranda and Terrones lines.
But I will continue my research for my four children and my Terrones, sister-in-laws, who are very interested in my research.

I have been a fan of the internet conversations for the last 6 months and now I can be part of those conversations. Thank you to all for all the great work presented, I hope my contribution will be of value and not a repetition for you seasoned members. The link is for the Delgado family in Zacatecas. http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/sarod77

Thanks! There are many, but I will start Florentina Delgado family search ID: LK7C-LZ4
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9GZB-ZNH?cc=1860864&wc=MC4….
Florentina Delgado Married Jose Rafael Rodriguez Contreras. The information I found for Rafael is as follows: son of Jose Tomas Rodriguez Alonzo and Maria Dorotea Contreras Lira
Jose Tomas Rodriguez Alonzo is son of Manuel Rodriguez and Petra Alonzo sometimes it has Maria Marta Alonzo on birth records.
The record I have for manuel rodriguez and Petra Alonzo does not match what I have been told of Florentina (this family can be found on familysearch the Delgados were originally from Pinos). Was Penon part of Zacatecas at one time. I have looked for records and I see a place called Penon not sure if its the same. Anyway her family owned half of Azogueros in Salinas del Penon Blanco, San Luis Potosi, Mexico that was left to her (this is oral history or legend of the family) she disowned my great-grandfather Pedro Rodriguez for having married someone who was not of Spanish descent and of her family standing. So I am on the hunt for a wedding record for Jose Tomas Rodriguez Alonzo and Maria Dorotea Contreras Lira. Today another record match appeared with a couple named maria Alonso con Manuel rodriguez from Spain having a child named manuel MJ11-Kb4 1959 but its just another possibility until a marriage record appears.
On another note: I have a couple Named Domingo Lopez 1719 (per his IM y Padres no conocidos) with Clara de Esparsa (padres no conocidos) though I can't locate a record I found that Micaela De Esparsa had a child natural. Her father is Nicolas Ruiz de Esparza and Clara Bueno. On the marriage record a couple is also getting married with the same names as Lopez and Esparza with the same dates of IM appearances. So my question is there any place to look for a child that has padres no conocidos. I know Domingo (legend) was a soldier who came over from Spain with Echegaray a nobleman. It could be his father who was the soldier.

I would be careful with family legend, many turn out to be false. At
least, in my family, I'm not sure why they made up so many stories, but
they did. And, I've heard similar things from others. I would also
disregard records from Spain, it's most likely just a person or couple with
a similar name. And, there's really no place to look for hijos de padres no
conocidos, that usually means the child was abandoned at birth. When you
see that, it's pretty much the end of the line.
Paige
"Hijo de padres no conocidos"
Hola primas,
"Hijo de padres no conocidos" doesn't necessarily mean a child has been abandoned; there were couples who, unmarried, might have one or more child together, and for some reason, when the child is baptized, they choose not to leave their names. My g6's, Andres Diaz de Leon and Dionicia Duron, lived together for almost 12 years, before they married, and they had 5 children; one of the reasons they gave for marrying, was to legitimize their children. Unfortunately, they never went back and amended the partidas for said children (not that I know of, anyways).
One of my great aunts, Victoriana Gonzalez and her husband, Miguel Macias de Anda, married 16 Feb 1746, in Aguascalientes. The previous year, they baptized a child, Maria Magdalena, on 25 Jul 1745; on the partida, she is listed as "de padres no conocidos," but in the margin, and after the parents married, you can see they went back and amended the entry (lower right):
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11678-30016-9?cc=1502404&w…
But they were a wealthy landowning family, and the legitimacy was necessary for inheritances.
I've seen various dispensas for children of unknown parents, on which their pedigrees are given. Unfortunately, the dispensas aren't for my "parentless" ancestors!
But, as Paige mentions, there is no way to actively look for records for children of unknown parents.
By the way, throughout the 1700s and early into the 1800s, Peñon Blanco (also Peñol Blanco) was located in the jurisdiction of San Matias, Pinos, Zacatecas. You can find the church records there.

Morquecho
Thank you Danny for finding and pointing out the Morquecho information on Wikitree. I added these profiles on Wikitree in hope of making a connection to my 7th Great Grandmother Maria Antonia Morquecho (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Morquecho-2). Maria Antonia married Cristobal Martinez and were 'vecinos' of Penuelas near Aguascalientes, In Cristobal's burial record it states that he was 'originario' of Agostadero in the jurisdiction of Asientos. Any additional information on this couple would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Morquecho
Glad to hear that it was helpful. Send me an email through Wikitree if you would like to add your family tree to Wikitree. It would be interesting to see if we are related.
Maria Antonia Morquecho
Hi Austin,
I read your last post, and you mentioned that Cristobal’s burial record said he was originally from Agostadero, jurisdiction of Asientos. There were lots of haciendas called “Agostadero,” but if it’s the one I’m thinking of, it lay between Asientos and Pinos, and today, is the municipal seat of Villa Garcia, Zacatecas. Like Real de Angeles, during different periods in the 1700’s, it would fall under the jurisdiction of one or the other parish, so you should also look in San Matias, Pinos.
I have a Cristobal Martin in my tree, son of Asencio Martin and Ynes Lopez aka Ynes de Urbina; Asencio Martin was son of Francisco Martin and Maria Rodriguez; Ynes Lopez daughter of Bernavel Lopez and Luisa de Olguin. Their marriage index: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5FZ-YQG
But I have Cristobal Martin married to Maria Antonia de Avila. They married 4 May 1732, in Pinos. The marriage took place on Aguagorda, which also appears in the Asientos archives, if my memory serves me:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15246-26827-25?cc=1804458&wc…
Maria Antonia de Avila was daughter of Nicolas de Avila and Magdalena de Contreras. I researched them, because I thought they might be Lopez de Avila, of Pinos and SLP, but as far as I can tell, they’re not. Nicolas de Avila and Magdalena de Contreras baptized at least 3 children in Aguascalientes, between 1688 and 1695, and in 1698, they’re living in Pinos. They had 6 more children, many born in Pinos. They lived on Lobo, when Cristobal and Maria Antonia married, which is near Agostadero.
I haven’t seen “Morquecho” associated with this family group, so it might be off track. Or, it might be ON track, and “Morquecho” another piece of the puzzle, something Maria Antonia added at a later date. The fact that Cristobal and Maria Antonia had a daughter named Maria Ynes is a good indication.
There were Morquecho in early Pinos/ Ojuelos, who I think originated in San Miguel de Allende. I want to say they married into the Quijas Escalante.
Many of the names and surnames do coincide, as do the locations, so it might be worth looking into.
I hope that helps!
Su primo,
Manny Diez Hermosillo

thank you for the advice. I went back to my tree and found I had not finish linking Juana Gertrudes Gomes with Joseph Vicente Morquecho and Vicente's parents, Rodrigo Jacinto Morquecho y Phelipa de Quixas (Quijas) Escalante. I cannot find their marriage certificate, but I will keep looking. I not sure if her sister married a zid de escobar they are from Guanajuato. Thanks, again
