hello Nuestros Ranchos forum,
i'm looking for a couple that baptized a child in the parish of Jesus, Guadalajara but there's no record for the couple or the grandparents that are named located in this parish. Does anyone know what the nearest location to Guadalajara would be?
Danny C. Alonso
Jesus Maria Pueblo
Danny,
A couple of years ago I noticed that some indexed records incorrectly showed the parish church of Jesus Maria, Jalisco as Jesus, Guadalajara. I think this error may have been corrected recently and that those records now say Jesus Maria Pueblo, Jalisco, Mexico. Perhaps the couple you seek is in Jesus Maria Pueblo and not in Guadalajara.
Jesus is a church
Hello Danny.
In our time Jesús is a church in the city of Guadalajara.
Please see the following list:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-DKS7-Q?owc=3JW2-3TL%3A171935001%3Fcc%3D1874591&cc=1874591
The listed places are churches (or parishes) in the same city, (Except the first two: Arzobispado and Diócesis).
Can you tell who the couple you´re looking for is?. Perhaps somebody can help to find them.
Jesus is a church
There's a small town in Jalisco with that name

Jesus is a church
Do you know where it is? I have always known that *Jesus*, Guadalajara,
refers to Jesus being the Cathedral where the records are or were kept for
that part of Guadalajara. I also heard of a name Jesus Maria as another
cathedral? I'm just curious. Although I was born in Jamay, Jalisco, I
grew up in the U.S., and I have visited family there but not enough to know
the towns. :-(

Jesús María is a small town in Jalisco , enter to familysearch and then look for Jalisco and you are going to see Jesus Maria (pueblo )but look in civil registration
And there’s a church named la capilla de Jesus in Guadalajara I think is Garibaldi and federalismo Avenue

Thank you! I'm hoping to go visit family before the year is over and do
hope to visit some of these places.

Jesus Maria Pueblo
Yes, my paternal grandparents were born here and married here. I actually plan on visiting this summer, have already purchased my ticket!
Jesus is a church
I’m familiar with the church. I’m trying to determine where else or what’s
the next closest location to Jesús. I’m looking for a couple that appear
there on one record only. No other children or grandchildren appear there,
no other marriages, nothing at all. What would be the next most likely
location near Jesús Guadalajara

San Miguel Espiritu Santo
Hello Danny.
The nearest parish to Jesus in the city of Guadalajara is San Miguel Espiritu Santo. it´s less than 1 mile away from Jesus.
You can see the exact locations in Google Maps searching for:
Jesus = Parroquia Dulce Nombre de Jesús, Calle Garibaldi, Jesús, Guadalajara, Jal.
San Miguel Espiritu Santo = Parroquia San Miguel Del Espíritu Santo, Avenida Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, Zona Centro, Guadalajara, Jal.
Best of luck in your search.
san miguel
Ruben,
thanks for the information. San Miguel Espiritu doesn't go back before the 1900s and that's part of the problem. im trying to find the nearest location with available non indexed records between 1850 to 1890.
Danny
Civil records
Danny, most (or all) of the church records of the city of Guadalajara for that time frame are indexed.
There are available civil records from 1857 and on:
Guadalajara: Nacimientos, matrimonios y defunciones.
Civil records
I wonder if I might be able to find my g-great grandmother in those
Guadalajara records? Her name was Maria Lugarda Aguilar married to Antonio
Lopez and I can't find them in Jamay or La Barca, Jalisco. There seem to
be missing records for 1854 that I think they would have gotten married.
Could you give me an idea as to where to look?
Thank you,
Esther Jordan (Lopez Mendoza)

Jose Rafael Lopez Aguilar
Hello Esther.
There is a christening record for Jose Rafael Lopez Aguilar in La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico on 19 Apr 1833. Jose Rafael is the son of Antonio Lopez and Lugarda Aguilar.
So Antonio and Lugarda should have gotten married before 1833.
Jose Rafael Lopez Aguilar
I do think I made a mistake with the years. Antonio Lopez was born in 1799
and Lugarda birth 1800-1815? Their children: Rafael Lopez Aguilar, 1833,
Tomas Lopez Aguilar, 1834, Simona or Simeona Lopez Aguilar, 1840; Maria
Teodocia and Jesus Lopez Aguilar mentioned somewhere else I don't know
where I kept those notes but they have birthdays the same year, 1837??
My grandfather used to say that his mother Guadalupe Velasco had come from
Arandas or Atotonilco but that is hearsay at this point.

Jesus, Guadalajara
Hi Ruben and Danny,
I have the same or similar question to Danny. I have a couple that baptized a child in Jesus, Guadalajara in the late 1800's and the parent and grandparents that are named do not appear in any other record, so they must've been married and baptized they're other children, of which there are several, in a nearby parish. My guess is that whatever nearby parish it is, is probably not within Guadalajara and also not indexed. The people I'm looking for are Sinforiano Garcia married to Donaciana Vejar and Leonardo Vasquez married to Susan Garcia. Both of these couples would probably have been born around 1850 and married around 1870.

Civil records of Guadalajara
Hi Chris.
Civil records starts from 1857. If there is a civil record for the birth of the baptized child, usually the record of birth states how old the parents are and the place(s) where they are from.
Miguel Vasquez. Record of birth
Hi Chris.
There is a record of birth of Miguel Vasquez (Rec. No. 2686):
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GPNB-VHM?i=461&wc=MGDG-HZ9%3A206555501%2C206589601&cc=1918187
The name of the maternal grandmother is Francisca Bejar (instead of Donaciana) according to the record.
I hope this may be of some help in your search.
Miguel Vasquez. Record of birth
Hi Ruben,
That record actually contradicts the baptism record where the madrina is named Francisca Bejar and the paternal grandmother is named Donaciana. I need to find a different record for a different child that will clarify which is correct. Either way, there’s no other record of baptized children or marriages for either the abuelos paternos or maternos.
