Images for Batch M60575-1

I am looking for the images that correspond to the indexed records for batch M60575-1. The records are for San Juan Bautista, Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, México, and they are linked to digital folder number 4786295 and microfilm number 654418. I searched the referenced film (654418) and didn't find images that matched the corresponding indexed records. Has anyone here come across them on another roll of film? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Saludos and introduction Dora Escobedo

Hola y saludos! I'm not sure if this is the place to post an introduction. If not, could someone please direct me to the appropriate place to post.
My name is Dora Escobedo (previously Gomez) and I've been a member of this group for a long time. However, I had life hit me and was not able to keep up with the research due to family obligations and hitting numerous brick walls. I am very glad to be back!!
After the pandemic and availability of more records on Familysearch.org, I was able to get back online and have found numerous ancestors. On my husband's Jalisco side (Escobedo) I have been able to go back to Capitan Diego Romo de Vivar and some other Captains. Of course on my side, I have many mestizos in the state of Zacatecas and one branch that comes from Jalisco. I'm still looking for a carpenter or merchant at least to match the captains on my husband's side of the family :).
My research areas are Sain Alto, Sombrerete, Rio Grande, Villa de Cos, Fresnillo, and Valparaiso, in Zacatecas. As well as Magdalena, Tequila, Cuquio, Huejuquillo, San Juan de los Lagos, in Jalisco.
The surnames are many but the main ones are Gomez, Escobedo, Castro, Gonzalez, Castrejon, Corona, Mejia, Monsivais and Flores.
In particular, I am also interested in obtaining old photos of any ancestors. I also have a DNA test on Ancestry. Looking forward to more research and connections.

GEDCOM, new user

Hi, I'm new to the website and was trying to find out how to create GEDCOM files online? I can't seem to actually open any of those links, only hover over them to see what's there.

I was also wondering if there was a template for how to share my info besides the register style list.

Church records of Cañadas de Obregon? Perez family?

Has anybody researched in or around Cañadas de Obregon? I'm looking for the church records for this town but they don't come out on familysearch. Were they ever filmed? And if not, are they located in another parish? I'm trying to find info on the Perez family (yes, those from the famous corrido), who may be related to my wife. I was able to find the civil registry of Cañadas, and the death certificates of Ysidro Perez, Mariano Perez, and Jesus Munoz Perez. However, I'm also interested in their church records since they may provide additional information about this family.

Any advice? I learned that the town was named Villa Obregon for several decades, but that name does not come out on familysearch either.

Manuela Padilla 1861 about

I have been searching for Manuela Padilla's baptismal document for many years with no luck. I have found Her parents' Marriage record and her mother's death record. Her mother died around the time I suspect she was born. The death record states her death was sudden and violent so I suspect she died in childbirth. Her mother was Francisca Gallo and this is the link to her death record. Maria Francisca Gallo

Tree Trolls - Adding profiles here to prevent new comers from perpetuating mistakes.

Few days ago we were commenting on how in Family Search there is been a huge amount of records modified and wrongly merged (on purpose) by trolls, been the most notorious "Mbarrena" who also goes by other names.

One of the problems in Family Search is the "volunteering" that seems to give "points" to LDS Church members, who many been inexperienced end up confusing names and merging people generations apart. This is still understandable. I'm not referring those here in this topic. I'm exclusively talking about people who intentionally change data even when sources are given to prove it.

This are definitely trolls, they just do it for fun or out of jealousy, they have no intention on helping or collaborating, they just want to mess around with the information.

In that conversation we had in the other topic (which I didn't continue, as it was kind of hijacking the main topic) there was a suggestion to use WikiTree, I checked it out and give it a try, well, it only takes a few moves before you get bombarded by this trolls such as "Don Ximenes", you can tell they hide under silly nicknames, they every connect themselves to the tree, and they spend quite a bit of time changing information instead of researching, in fact they will not add real information, they just go after what has already been posted.

The consequential problem and one that is becoming more eminent is that new comers may think that the data that is been wrongly modified is correct and they en up perpetuating wrong information (without intention) due to the lack of experience.

This is why I think we need to point out this profiles so people are aware of this and hopefully prevent inexperienced researchers from taking data for granted.

Once again, there is nothing better than posting genealogy on personal website and for everyone to keep the records safe in your own files.

AVILA / Fresnillo, Zacatecas

Hello,

I'm reaching out for help with the following: It is a link for a death registration for José Trinidad de Avila - Abt 1823-1909 Fresnillo, Zacatecas: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/60467/images/004886899…

The index reads that Trinidad’s father was: Anastasio de AVILA. On this written record it reads that Trinidad was the son of José de Avila. The name Anastasio de AVILA is in the beginning of the record, and it reads that he “espouse.” Isn’t this the person who gives the information for the deceased? Perhaps the two names were transposed when being indexed? I’ve yet to find the birth record for Trinidad, but this record lists him as “adulto.” I have seen this on other baptism records so I’m thinking it must be “natural born?”

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could clarify these names. Thank you.

Possible Family of Benito de Isla and Petronila de Moctezuma

Hello,

I have recently discovered that I descend from a Benito de Isla whose many descendants spread throughout Nochistlan. I hit the brick wall there, and I do not know who Benito’s wife was. Normally I would assume that the traceable ancestry ends there. However, I have spotted miscellaneously placed postings that allude to a specific ancestry for Benito de Isla and his unnamed wife when they are all placed together. Unfortunately I have been unable to pinpoint the sources for most of these postings – this is where I need help.

But to start with:

PART 1: What is Provable:

From the primary sources that I have been able to access and see with my own eyes, I have mapped out the following:

Benito de Isla was the father of Magdalena de Lavezaris (wife of Francisco Gonzalez) and Maria de Isla y Moctezuma (wife of Capitan Andres Martinez de Sotomayor). This same Benito de Isla also had a natural mestiza daughter named Maria de Isla.

There is another Maria de Isla who was married to Christobal Martinez Lozano and had a family in Aguascalientes. This Maria de Isla (wife of Christobal Martinez Lozano) had a sister named Petronila de Isla.

PART 2: What I suspect (Part A): The Maria de Isla’s:

I think that the Maria de Isla (the mestiza) is possibly one and the same with the Maria de Isla who was married to Christobal Martinez Lozano. However, I have not seen this Maria de Isla (wife of Christobal Martinez Lozano) ever mentioned as anything but “espanol;” the same goes for her children. Then again I have seen many examples within these Mexican colonial records were people who are more accurately and originally described as mixed race, appear later in life described as “espanol”. If these two Maria de Isla’s are the same person then Benito de Isla is also the father of Petronila de Isla.

I do not think the Maria de Isla (wife of Chritobal Martinez Lozano) is the same person as Maria de Isla y Moctezuma (wife of Capitan Andres Martinez de Sotomayor). There seem to be too many children born to both of these women to be same one.

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

PART 2: What I suspect (Part B): The Lavezaris Connection:

Since Benito de Isla had a daughter who used the name Magdalena de Lavezaris. That name must have come from somewhere further back. I think that Benito de Isla is the son of a Bernardino de Isla and another Magdalena de Lavezaris who was the sister of Guido de Lavezaris, Governor-General of the Philippines.

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

PART 2: What I suspect (Part C): The Moctezuma Connection:

Since Benito de Isla had a daughter who used the name Maria de Isla y Moctezuma. That name must have come from somewhere further back. I suspect the connection was matrilineal but have never seen a wife listed for Benito de Isla from my own research. (Benito de Isla possibly being the father of Petronila de Isla also comes into play here.)

I have spotted a few interesting postings that allude to Benito de Isla’s wife. However, they are un-sourced postings, I have been unable to make contact with the people who posted them, and have not been able to pinpoint any primary sources for the following:

From other’s Postings:

1. I have seen a forum (here at Nuestros Ranchos) where a Petronila de Isla is described as being the daughter of a Benito de Isla and a Juana Navarro. I have been unable to contact the person who posted this. Does anyone know where this information comes from?

2. I have seen a tree on Ancestry.com where Benito de Isla is married to a Juana Navarro. Here Juana Navarro dies 28 Dec 1651 in Teocaltiche. The death records in Teocaltiche do not go back that far. Does anyone know where this information comes from?

3. In another tree on Ancestry.com, Benito de Isla is married to a Juana “Navarro y Moctezuma.” Wonderful, if her name actually appears this way, but does anyone know where this information comes from?

4. I have seen forums of the couple Martin de Gabay Navarro and Petronila de Moctezuma as having 4 children: Ana-Francisca, Maria, Christobal, and JUANA. Ana-Francisca, Maria, and Christobal are provable children via various dispensas. But where does the information of this couple also having a daughter named Juana come from? Does anyone know?

PART 3 Conclusions?:

All of this starts to lean in a certain direction. Let us assume that, outside of what is provable, what I suspect is true and what others have posted is also true; that all that is needed is to pinpoint a few more sources. Then the following is a possible reconstruction of the whole picture:

Benito de Isla (son of Bernardino de Isla and Magdalena de Lavezaris) married a Juana Navarro (daughter of Martin de Gabay Navarro and Petronila de Moctezuma) and had as daughters Magdalena de Lavezaris (named after her paternal grandmother), Maria de Isla y Moctezuma (partially named after her maternal grandmother), Petronila de Isla (also partially named after her maternal grandmother), with the additional Maria de Isla (the Mestiza daughter born from another woman).

Chronologically it fits, though a little tight on Petronila de Moctezuma’s side if we assume she was born about 1552, allegedly had the said Juana by 1572, Juana having Magdalena de Lavezaris and Maria de Isla y Moctezuma by the time she was age 15 c. 1587, and both Madalena and Maria also starting to have children by about age 15, since most of their traceable children have their earliest estimated birth years in the late 1600’s early 1610’s. Keep in mind that 15 is a typical age for young girls to marry in this time period.

I would appreciate any opinions, corrections, or primary sources on these matters which may prove or refute the possible reconstruction of this tree.

Regards,

David

Introduction.

Hello,

My name is Olga. I’m a new member, and so delighted to have been accepted into this group. In 2008, not knowing anything about my ancestry, other than the names of my grandparents, I decided to take advantage of the Ancestry.com free two-week membership. This ancestry journey has been so enlightening and interesting.

All these years later I have grown many branches of my tree in Zacatecas, Jalisco, and Aguascalientes. I still have brick walls in Fresnillo, Zacatecas with the names of DOBALI, SOLIS and VASQUEZ.

In recent years I often came across the postings of members of NR, which helped in my ancestry journey. I now look forward to having the opportunity to contribute to the journey of others.

Encarnacion de Diaz land transfer dating 1854

I have a written property transfer from Josefa de Alva to Gregorio Mayagoitia. Document is dated April 2, 1854. Document is written by Francisco de Alba, Josefa's brother. Would anyone have information on their descendants? My father-in-law had a box of many old documents which I found after his death. I believe they are all land sales/transfers. All in Encarnacion de Diaz. Most are from the Soledad area. It is a treasure of documents that I have been trying to translate. Some of the handwriting is very difficult to read. All documents are from the early 1800's. One of the documents is a land transfer part of Hacienda Mariquita. Names in this document are Mariano de anda, Gregorio Mayogoitia, Jose Amaya, Refugio Lozano, Mauricio Lopez, Rosa Lozano, Ignacio Lomelin, Refugio Gutierrez, Juan Lozano. I was surprised to find that a witness was Felix de Anda (my great grandfather) My father-in-law was Salvador Romo Franco b. 1901 in La Soledad, rancho de Mariquita.
I do not know how or why he had these land grants.
