Hello, everyone. I'd just like to introduce myself as a new member of this research group. I very recently started researching my family history, but I have been interested in it for years. I have a bit of information from what my grandparents can tell me and also one great-grandmother (103-105 years old), but most dates are missing as of yet. Anyway, I just thought I'd share what I have in the hopes that someone might see a connection to my family, however remote it might be, and we can maybe exchange it.
Thanks and wish me luck!
Cristina Ávila Haro (de Pedroza)
P. S. My very disorganized family tree can be found here: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/15311

I'm new, trying to figure out this site! Todavia no entiendo bien como usar este sito haci que por favor ten pacencia don migo (y mi espanol)
This leg of my family (tracing back ancestors of my paternal grandfather) was from Tlaltenango, though I do not know at what point they started there.
Generation No. 1
Estimating Catalina Torres born around 1840
1. Catalina Torres married German Contreras (Estimating married around 1860-1870)
Known Children of Catalina Torres and German Contreras are:
2. i. Luciana Contreras (estimating birth around 1870)
Generation No. 2
2. Luciana Contreras married (estimating between 1880-1890) Buenaventura Cornejo son of Ignacio Cornejo and Julia Serrano Cornejo.
Known children of Luciana and Buenaventura:
5. i. Carmen Cornejo, b. 1893 died in 1960's
Generation No. 3
3. Carmen Cornejo was born 1893 (died 1960’s). She married Jose Salinas, born 1889 (died 1940’s), son of Isabel Salinas and Josefa Avila Salinas.
Sole Child of Carmen Cornejo and Jose Salinas was:
1. i. Luis Humberto Cornejo Salinas, b.1935, Zacatecas, Mexico (died in 2011 in Elk Grove, California, U.S. -Salinas surname was dropped when he immigrated to U.S.)
Generation No. 4
4. Luis Cornejo Salinas was born 1935 in probably Tlaltenango Zacatecas, Mexico. He married [Still living], daughter of Juan Campos Alvarez and Leonor Huizar Carrillo who were from Momax, Zacatecas.
Children of Luis Cornejo Salinas and his wife:
i. Jose Cornejo [born crica 1962-63, died within a few days of birth]
ii. [still living]
iii. [still living]
iv. [still living]
Leonor Huizar Carrillo died at the age of 28 (circa 1944, so born crica 1920) and her husband Juan Campos Alvarez (died 1991 of gunshot wound, believe he was in or near 70's so born around 1910-20's) remarried to her sister Carmen Huizar Carrillo, and also had more children - some of which also married to the other Campos family in Momax.
I will be getting my old family tree from years ago when I asked my grandpa while he was living and lucid for information, and post that as well.
Hoping to learn more of Luis Cornejo Salinas, I was his consentida for sure being his first grandchild and I miss him like crazy, and because he was an only child I feel like I hardly know anything about his family since I never met his parents either because they died before my mother was even born.
ESPANOL Y INGLES - Empezando con yo y siguiendo para atras/To go backwards:

I too have Campos family in that area. I am researching two different Campos families, one I share with Arturo and another I share with Carol. Take a look at my files if you are interested.
Also, I came across this:

Campos Family from Momax/Tlaltenango
I do all my look ups on the http://www.familysearch.com/ website. The site only has information prior to 1900's. The site allows for ordering of films which have information after this date and also can give more information then the IGI or VRI extracted index contain.
I do not know Cuca Godina. But let me ask around and find out if she is a distant relative or something. Is there anyway for you to find out the names of her parents or grandparents?
Thanks,
Angie

Cristina:
Welcome to the group. There are a number of us in the group that share your surnames in the same geographic region so I am sure as your research progresses you will find a number of cousins here in the group. I for one have a great number of ancestors from Atolinga, Tlaltenango and Momax and share the Campos and Avila surnames. I also have a great deal of research compiled on the Haro family of Tlaltenango (one of the oldest Spanish families in the region).
Where are San Lorenzo, Los Sedano and El Plateado? What municipality do these ranchos belong to today?
It would be very helpful if you could at least organize your names by generation with approximate dates. Names repeat themselves over and over so it is difficult to discern one from another. I would suggest you download the PAF program, which is free and start entering your information into that program, which will then produce reports in standard formats with recognized numbering systems (i.e. Ahnentafel Charts and Register format). Plus once you start getting lots of names and information you will want to have some standard way to organize your sources and notes.
You can download PAF at: http://www.familysearch.org/
At the same site, you can search through the Latter Day Saints genealogy databases which include extracts of most of the marriage and baptism registers of the towns you have mentioned. For example, I found the following records related to your ancestors so you now have dates for these events:
ATANACIO CAMPOS
Spouse: NATIVIDAD CORNEJO
Marriage:
24 JAN 1877 Tlaltenango De Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Mexico
Batch: M607146 Film: 0443974
Rosa Campos
Christening:
01 NOV 1878 Momax, Zacatecas, Mexico
Father: Atanasio Campos Family
Mother: Natividad Cornejo
Batch No.: I017272
Maria De Campos
Christening:
24 MAR 1880 Momax, Zacatecas, Mexico
Father: Atanacio De Campos Family
Mother: Natividad Cornejo
Batch No. I017273
Avila in Tlaltenango
This is Mickey....I have Maria Clara de Aro, Huejucar born ca 1740. Any info?
Thanks,
